Spiller recruiting

Nov 29, 2022, 7:12 PM

is he prone to targeting burners? I wonder what he looks for in a RB. Is speed his priority? Do speed backs fit our offensive philosophy (whatever that is)?

Do the position coaches have a “type” or “style” of player that meshes with the overall offensive scheme?

It seems like the last two recruiting cycles have just been go sign who we can sign, and not actually targeting kids that would complement each other and the offense.

Just seems like each position has great players and great potential but they don’t fit together well as a whole and don’t mesh.

I mean how can we have so much talent across the board at each position and NOT be consistent at all.

Maybe this is why? Offensive experience coaching list:

Brandon Streeter (Offensive Coordinator, QB Coach): Former Clemson player, 6 years OC experience at Richmond and Liberty, 5 years QB coach experience prior to that

CJ Spiller (RB Coach): Former Clemson player, no other college coaching experience

Tyler Grisham (WR Coach) Former Clemson Player, no other college coaching experience

Kyle Richardson (Passing game coordinator, TE Coach): HS coach in South Carolina, no other college coaching experience, 6 years Clemson support staff

Thomas Austin (OL Coach): Former Clemson player, 2 years coaching experience at Georgia State

Andrew Zow (Senior offensive Analyst): Former Alabama QB while Dabo was the WR Coach, 13 years high school coaching experience, no other college coaching/analyst experience

Cole Stoudt (Offensive Player Development): Former Clemson player, 3 years college coaching experience at Morehead State, 3 years at Jacksonville State as a GA

Kaleb Nobles (Offensive Player Development): 3 years coaching at D-II West Florida

Tajh Boy (Offensive Player Development): Former Clemson player, no other college coaching experience

Tyrone Crowder (Offensive Player Development): Former Clemson player, no other college coaching experience

Thus is the root of our problems on Offense...Where do the new plays or concepts come from? We often look like a high school offense or a FCS school.

There is NO OTHER TOP25 team that would try what Dabo is attempting. OJT of an entire Offensive Staff and most of Defense is nuts.

He is the CEO and his "customers" are the fans. He went to his "BOD" and said, " I am going to have all but 2 of my total coaching staff (Reed/Eason) possess no NFL or FBS experience. Trust me."

Dabo earned the trust many times over, but this experiment is a disaster.

Inbreeding over time has very negative effects.

It amazes me how no one knows how recruiting works

Nov 29, 2022, 7:41 PM

It seems no one on here knows that recruiters are assigned a territory to recruit. Not a position. Of course the position coach is involved, but they are not always the primary recruiter to that player. RB recruiting is not all on Spiller.

but no matter who’s out recruiting you target guys with specific skill sets to match your offensive scheme or philosophy right?

if you run a certain offense you recruit certain players to fit that offense right?

take paul johnson and GT. Would he ever recruit a 5 star NFL style qb that doesn’t run?

No.

or Alabama, do they recruit 5’9 RBs that run 4 second 40s? no.

I don’t usually get mad and certainly don’t stay mad. Don’t even know what I might have been mad about? The only guy I remember being mad at was the a$$hat that decided to comment on my health when I had Covid a few weeks ago.

No. Wasn’t you. I know who it was.

I definitely state my opinions but I try to respect the right of others to have differing opinions. I do get aggravated when I run into people who don’t respect other’s right to have an opinion. I believe one of the biggest issues in society today is that we have largely lost the ability to disagree without being disagreeable. Also not a big fan of name calling and comments that are just mean spirited.

i agree. people get so offended so easily just because the other doesn’t agree. it seems like being in disagreement with someone automatically makes you enemies.

I’m not here to make enemies and i don’t expect everyone to agree with me. Some here do.
