We tied up at 64 with 6+ in the 4th. FSU’s had 15 point leads. 13 at the half. Win or lose, gutty effort. Pretty decent crowd too.
Go Tigers!!!!

Great comeback after being down 50-37 at the half by the Tigers

Yep. Took the lead, then 2 turnovers and a couple missed D assignments. But not bad for #22.
Let's not kid ourselves, we can't rebound. Make sloppy turnovers off soft passes but the talent level is a bump up. We need height.

The number 1 takeaway from our game with the Coots was we were way too short overall to be competitive with top teams. While we have some decent talent, height hurts when teams tower over lot of the team.

yeah they are a great team but we have been more competitive with (UNC) and beaten (Duke) teams who have SC a tough game.
There was no reason we should have liked like a high school team vs them in Columbia. Just completely shell-shocked that night

Amanda Butler was a horrendous hire

but Neff and the fanbase doesn't care about women's basketball so her contract has been extended twice.
77-94 overall in 6 years. 28-62 in the ACC in 6 years.
She is at best a .500 coach and is well on her way to doing that again this year, 8-7 so far.
She has had one winning season in the ACC (9-7 in year one)
The women's basketball program is one of the worst in the athletic department.

She was a much better hire than than anyone we've had since Jim Davis

She came in to an absolute train wreck of a program and has taken it from a train wreck to decent. The question is can she elevate it from decent to good (or better). I think she's a pretty good game coach, but I'm not sure if she can elevate recruiting enough on a consistent basis.

You obviously didnt see our coaching records prior to Amanda. While Davis rules, Amanda is 3rd all time in winning percentage and only 1 of 3 coaches to take Clemson to NCAA.
You obviously don't know how bad our women's team has been. She is making us competitive and teams are getting more talented.

Clemson people wrecked the program by firing Davis. And continued to wreck it w horrendously bad coaching hires. Self inflicted like what they did to Ford and football.

we have hired several male coaches in other women's sports. Rittman, Radwanski, Boomer Saia, the volleyball disaster.
So the idea we are hiring women as coaches in WBB just for diversity is a non-starter.

you realize that that's our best run since Davis left right?

we have been absolutely rancid in women's basketball for two decades now. I once did the stats and we were literally one of the three worst power 5 programs in that span (along with Washington State and other who I forget).
We made three terrible hires before Butler. She is clearly the strongest of them since Davis but still has a lot to to improve. That's how down our women's program has been

Was Itoro Umoh-Coleman. Clemson history, excellent assistant coach, and great recruiter. The problem was that we learned she couldn't coach and therefore couldn't hold on to the players she had. I think she was a good hire, but also a good fire.
The other two hires between Davis and Butler were very poor... especially the first one. She literally set us back 2 decades. The 3rd one was below average all around, but not absolutely awful. Butler can coach... we just need to figure out how to get more elite talent for her to coach.

were definitely reach hires. They both had mediocore at best records at smaller schools. (Rice and UAB iirc). Nothing that was any indication of a hidden gem coaching talent for a power program.

I understand. The turnaround hasn't been nearly as quick as I'd hoped. Several factors as others (much appreciated) have laid out.
Try to consider what she's up against. Kinda like coastal Carolina trying to recruit against us in football for in state talent. But, she has a 5* coming in that will be a game changer. Whitehorn has been slow to develop but she's coming into her own. I think you'll see a much larger step next season.
Huge shoutout to all the fans that attended. Thank you.
