UNC and Duke will be one and two, not sure of order.
UVa has third pretty much secure.
Teams that could claim 4th.
Wake, currently tied for the spot. Remaining games: VT, GT, and CU. Got to believe the beat both VT and GT making our game with them crucial.
CU, currently tied for the spot. Remaining games ND, Cuse, Wake. Bottom line, we need both the ND game and Cuse so that the Wake game is basically for the 4th place spot.
Cuse, currently 5th. With two games left our game with them is at home and pretty much a must win for us.
Pitt, currently tied 6th. Remaining games: BC, FSU, and NCSU. Good news for us, with three teams at 9-8 and Pitt plays both, the losing team in those two games is likely out. Just in case we own tiebreaker.
NCSU, currently tied for 6th. Remaining games: UNC, Duke, Pitt. No way they win more than 2 of those and may lose them all. Huge long shot to get to 4th.
FSU, currently tied for 6th. Remaining games: Pitt, GT, Miami. Bottom line here is we own the tiebreaker. They would need to run the table and us to lose 2 of final three.
Basically Wake is our major competition. We play them in the season finale at their place. Since their next two have to be considered wins, we must have one of two against ND and Cuse and then would need to beat Wake.
We are in good position tiebreaker-wise with Pitt & FSU....and I agree that NCSU will likely not be a factor due to their closing schedule. Pitt seems to be the best team of that bunch...and they get FSU & NCSU at home.
Syracuse is sneakily hanging around...we can make them a non-factor, but they are still involved at this point. Their other game is at Louisville. They then get the benefit of a full week off before the ACC tournament...will be interesting to see if that helps them.
The cleanest thing to do is keep winning, and particularly win the Wake game. Even if they lose at VT, which is entirely possible due to their road record and VT's ability to be decent at home, they can still get us in a tiebreaker if they beat us.
