are. Sorry, but the other post was too long. I did not like the Dabo's hire but I'm coming around. You do realize however that the sole reason we are winning is this offense? The sole reason this offense is so good is Chad Morris. Chad Morris will not be around long. Dabo's HAS to beat USC, period.

Morris was a HS coach just a couple years before we hired him. A number of people on this board were upset about it, and I know I was unsure about the pick. I thought we should've hired Friedgen. Shows you how dumb I am.

Wrong again , I just don't see the crown of thorns , holes in the palms or water into wine that many of you claim with Dabo. He has simply hired and fired a couple guys , got us to a couple bowl games and won the weakest ACC ever . He has a losing record in bowls and against UsuK . So if you want to crown him greatest ever he better earn it.

Florida State as a member.
In fact it didn't have Va Tech, Miami, Gas Tech nor BC either.
The weakest ACC ever was when Clemson would go undefeated in the conference and still not receive a bowl bid, which has happened several times.
This is far from the "weakest ACC ever" ...

I simply call out everyone that doesn't demand the best from our program. Losing records to the chickens and the Big East is not accepted by me and it shouldn't be accepted by you.
Ps , I live in Lexington and have for 30 years . If you want to question my allegiance to the program come see me one day . My Clemson hat, wallet, sweatshirt glasses and watch should be convincing enough.

He was ... and probably would still be ... one of the best offensive coordinators in the college game.
But, Dabo went with unconventional thinking much to his credit.

DC because he felt he should have had the job instead of Dabo. So when Dabo was hired Koenning basically said he was out.
And as far as the offense go he's much greater than .500 considering our offense.
Defense is still up for discussion.

That he only hired Steele because our atheltic dept. wouldn't pony up the money to get his first choice, which was John Chavis.
You people just love the attention don't you?? Because anyone who is smart enough to know ANYTHING about prorams knows that what he has done for this program is ultimately nothing but great things. I guess people like you should have been hugged more as a child. Makes me sad...

1) Every head coach needs good assistants to win. You can't say Dabo is winning simply because he has good assistants, not anymore than you can say any coach wins because of his assistants.
2) Every coach who has ever coached the game has had to fire assistants that he hired.
Your argument lacks valid points.

was it considered a risk and gamble when Dabo hired CM, half of this board ( and that's a conservative estimate ) were pissing and moaning on the hire. Dabo is a good coach and a great CEO. Danny Ford did the same thing. He coached what he knew and hired the right coaches. It has a lot to do w/ chemistry, and this coaching staff has a great chemistry on and off the field. Dabo is laying the ground for a great era of Clemson football. I'm going to kick back and enjoy the ride like I did in the 80's. Great days are ahead for us

but Dabo's and coaches like him will always be at a disadvantage. They have no specialty. Savannah, Muschamp, etc. only have to hire a good OF and they are set. Dabo's has to hire both because he is neither a great offensive mind or defensive mind. Fatally flawed.

If he found this combination, he can find more. There are great coordinators all over the place you just have to find them and Dabo has shown the ability to do just that.
With the backing of the football program Dabo has gotten from the University and AD, aka spending big money for coordinators, we will find more.
Oh yeah that's another thing he has accomplished bigger pay for better coaches.

"...coaches like him will always be at a disadvantage. They have no specialty."
Dabo's background and forte is offense, but regardless you don't have to have to be a specialist to understand X's and O's or succeed as a head coach.
Where do you come up with this stuff?

with the O or D when he or she interferes with the coordinators job.
Bottom line is if we are winning, Dabo should get the credit and if we are losing he should get the blame.

That's not the only reason. Morris is a huge part - no doubt - but another factor is the talent we have on offense. That is due in large part to Dabo's recruiting success.

were not recruited by Chad Morris. They would make any coordinator look good.
Boyd is one of the best quarterbacks in the country. Watching other games Saturday, you saw a number of teams whose quarterback could not hit open receivers consistently.

yeah the Oline is bad huh? 300 yds rushing and passing. 700 yards of offense. You don't do that with a bad Oline

So what does Dabo have to do to satisfy you?
Nov 5, 2012, 12:41 PM
|

He hired Morris, sure he hired Steele, but he fired him too when he didnt get the job done.
If were winning because of our offense and Chad Morris, and not because of anything Dabo has done, how can you pin the USuC losses on Dabo? According to what you said, you should have said "Morris HAS to beat USC, period.)

I think BV is deserving of another to "evaluate" his performance , as of now I would take Koenning back in heart beat.

Lets be honest

Venables didnt exactly inherit much talent to work with. And then when youve got your 3rd string CB's playing starting minutes because of injuries, his job didnt get any easier.
I dont get how anyone can really bash BV, of course he didnt turn this defense into anything near elite. He lost any NFL talent from last years team and still improved the defense.

and Chad's name came up. It's common sense, if you have to make a hire you consult peers.

He's the one who pulled the trigger on an OC with exactly one year of college experience.
Idiots like you and blue caddie and 5knklstooge would have MUCH preferred hiring some guy who'd been fired from a handful of other programs but had a "name" only because you fools all believe you know as much about football and his job as Coach Swinney does. And believe me, its painfully obvious to everyone except yourselves that you know next to nothing about the day to day operations of a Div 1 football program nor about being able to spot talent---whether its in a QB, a receiver, an RB.....or in an offensive coordinator

Dabo does not have to be a great tactician offensively
Nov 5, 2012, 2:13 PM
|
|
nor defensively, but he does have to be great choosing subordinates who are, then managing them successfully. Many great leaders historically have been so inclined - Dwight Eisenhower comes to mind. So, does that lack make Dabo fatally flawed? Did it make Ike fatally flawed? Not in the minds of millions of Americans nor our allies nor, for that matter, in the minds of the German generals who signed the unconditional surrender. Thus, if we are successful on the gridiron, Dabo will be hailed; if not, then he will pass into history as an also-ran much the same way that the failed generals of history have. Thus far, I'm inclined to believe he is on the right paths to victory, and only time will tell if he has wisely chosen subordinates capable of leading our troops to the victories we crave. And I am wishing him great success managing his staff toward the grand strategy of conference championships, bowl victories, continued domination of SC and the ultimate prize: a national championship.

An offensive coordinator is responsible for having a successful offense. A Defensive coordinator is responsible for having a successful defense.
A head coach is responsible for winning games. Dabo has done that.
