Why we're struggling....

New TE Coach (no coaching history on TE prior) New RB Coach (no coaching history prior) 2nd year WR coach (no coaching history prior)
New starting QB New starting RB New slot WR
New LT - (played Rt tackle last year) New LG - True Freshman New C - played LG last year New RT - (was backup at LG last year)
The changes on the Oline is the most confusing to me. Why all the changes? Further, why was there such an emphasis on all the cross training.
1) We should have kept the 3 returning starters where they've been playing.
2) If we're going to move guys to new positions, then why bounce them around and cross train as if they have all the experience in the world?
But even more than all of that, I think opposing defensive coordinators have finally caught up to our playbook and play calling. We can do all the self scouting we want, but the playbook is the playbook and if people are on to it (and our Oline isn't going enforce their will on someone), then we're left to out scheme people. Well, it's tough out scheme people when people know what to expect.
If we don't make updates to the play calling then we letting others catch up.

Great assessment.
Throw in NIL and Social Media distractions, the “I want to play but I haven’t earned it” Transfer Portal, along with COVID misunderstandings, and you’ve got the perfect storm.
We also set our expectations artificially high for this season, thinking we would cruise through to the playoffs.
Teams have bad years and you can either grow from it and get better or curl up in the fetal position and whine.
Dabo and his staff didn’t suddenly forget how to coach, and sometimes failure can bring about positive changes (in this case new, creative play calling).
It is time to adapt and grow and I feel confident that Dabo will right this ship.
We have all of the pieces - we just need to put them together correctly so that we can once again dominate and impose our will on other teams.
Let’s support our Tigers and BEAT BC!! and GO TIGERS!!!

Here's the thing about NIL and Social media distractions...
All teams is experiencing some of that. I'm not sure how you quantify that, but the NIL is a new experience for every team this year, not just us. And Social media has been a presence for years now. For us, even we've allowed it for 2 years now, during the season.
Those things are not impacting Clemson more than other teams, IMO.
First thing I would change (if I could wave a wand...) - The O Line, should have stuck to their same positions from last year, and simply plug in the new LT (who was a back up and got good snaps last year) and Center. - Tempo, tempo, tempo, then change the snap count.(at least try to catch people off guard) - Put Justin back in the Boundary or field. - Would have had Will Taylor working Slot from the first step on campus. - Run DJ a little more early off the zone read (Run some passes off that Zone Read later in the game). - Take 3 deep shot per game. Make the defense respect the deep ball again. Sail them all long or out of bounds to minimize risk of INT. - Crossing routes, Jet sweeps and TE play. Where is this part of the offense? Add it back!! - Move/roll the Line to get DJ some more time to throw.
Two biggest issues 1) not putting the players in their best position to win. 2) Lack of imagination on the play calling side. 3) O line not imposing their will on the LOS.

Zone Read by definition is decided by what the QB reads. You don't just call the play and tell the QB to keep it. If the QB is not reading correctly, it will look like a bad play 90% of the time. He has to read the DE. If the DE crashes, QB is supposed to keep it. There were multiple times against UGA and NCST where the QB misread the DE and handed it to the RB to get swallowed up for minimal gain (if any).

And how many times have you seen Alabama having some of the same issues as Clemson yet struggle as bad as Clemson .And it's just not struggle, this offense can't even get out of their own way. Players come and go, position change, coaches move on, but this year I have not seen our coaching staff make chances to the playbook ,or our head coach sit the starting quarterback .However I have seen Dabo make excuse after excuse, or say we are who we are, is ok with players opting out with using the portal but is not willing to let a player who might help transfer in. Explain that to me.
