The tutor's actions !?!?!

Jul 12, 2012, 7:59 AM

It seems to me that UNC has attempted to downplay the entire ordeal.

Swoff's assistance in all this too

I don't think there is any question....

that John Swofford worked very closely with UNC to help minimize the impact all of this would have with the NCAA. He's made it abundantly clear where his loyalties lie and generally I would have no problem with someone going to bat for their alma matter, but Swofford, in his capacity as commissioner of the ACC, has a greater responsibility to the league as a whole than to any one of its members, and he has failed miserably in this regard IMO. He certainly didn't go to these same lengths for Miami and GT?

issue. If he hand held Miami or GT fine but with unc its been over the top. makes you wonder how much behind the scenes he has done. probably all consuming for him

Yep - they are painting that prof who was giving out grades

as a rogue. They had no idea that was happening and no way to know it was happening (wink wink).

When the tutor said "it's 8.5 pages now and I expanded in many areas" - Baddour translated that into she changed to a bigger font? Clemson would be getting crucified if this had happened here.

Stepping back and looking at the entire UNC picture, it is quite clear that the University was complicit in this entire situation.

- From the academic side: scheduling and enabling athletes to get "free" grades (dirty Dean and Prof(s) teaching imaginary classes).
- From the athletic side: improper benefits and "agents" on the football staff.
- From the campus tutoring side: tutor(s) writing papers and doing other work for athletes to submit as their own.
- From the Administration side: covering up all of it, to the best of their abilities.

When is legal action going to be taken?

If I were a real, honest UNC student or UNC parent, I'd certainly consider suing the University for fraud and expect some of my tuition back. My reasoning would be that a UNC education has been devalued because of all this, and is no longer worth the price I've paid for it.

While I applaud the reporting done on this situation, particularly by the Raleigh newspaper, the full extent of this disgraceful situation has yet to be uncovered. From the evidence put forth so far, it would certainly seem that UNC was, and is, full of corruption at just about every level of the University's structure.

What really gets me, though, is that no oversight organization (accreditation board, ACC, NCAA, State or local Government, etc) has really laid down the gauntlet. What is holding these accountability agencies back from actually holding UNC accountable? Please, somebody explain that to me, because I really don't understand it.

1. Swoffy is covering UNC's @$$ as much as possible
2. If they really investigated, it would kill the sacred cow - Old Roy & UNC Basketball....
