I know and I understand that all the talk about our TE spot is all about Briningstool, but I have a serious gut feeling that the true freshman Christian Bentancur once he gets an understanding of the playbook, I believe the kid will be pushing Briningstool by mid to late season. All the film that I've been able to find on this kid in HS, he really looks like the real deal as a receiving TE!!! If this kid doesn't fall on his face from HS to college, I think that it would be wrong to put this kid in as a blocking TE, IMO, that would be wasting elite TE talent!!!

I dont think he will push him at all. I bet he will have a solid sophomore year though.

You could be right, but from some film I found on youtube videos, this kid has excellent hands, can catch in a crowd, and gets yards on most of his catches. If watch him on film, I think you will also say that this kid is an elite talented TE, plus he has a pair of good wheels that allows him to get in space, but he isn't afraid of contact. I like him myself, and I can barely wait to see him in a Tiger Paw uniform and on the field hopefully doing what he done in HS. Like I said earlier, if the transition from HS to college doesn't cause him to fall flat on his face, he will be a great Tiger TE IMPO that is!!!

I have watched his videos. He is a stud. I just think it is just the situation he is coming into. We are stacked. I think he will have a great career though. I am with you.

I know that has been Dabo's and Tony Es rule since Dabo became our HC. But, I'm just saying that sending an elite TE out on the field with his talent in a live game just to use him for blocking is utterly wasteful IMO!!! I mean using a 240 or 250 LB elite TE just for the purpose of blocking what could end up being against a 275 or 280LB DE or 300 or 325LB D lineman with the risk tearing a muscle or fracturing a bone injury just don't seem to be justifiable or the smartest thing to do IMHO just saying. I might tell him to get in their way or put a hand on him just to slow them down for a second, but I would make sure that he understood do not get into a blocking battle with one of those guys.
Now if it was a TE that didn't have very good pass catching hands and his most important worth was his blocking skills, I would be OK with him blocking, but heck with a TE that has elite pass catching skills that Christian Bentancur do have. If I were a coach, I would be like Oh H E L L No my man, you don't get into any kind of blocking competition with any of those guys playing up front on the D line, not today or any other day or night!!!

Sapp is a freak athlete that just makes open space appear because of his shifty WR skills

Eat Jake eat. Would feel a lot better about Jake if he could add another 25-30 lbs.
The future looks bright for this group

I agree . He needs to be bigger. He still is a force to be reckoned with. Love his play last year.

Yep, I agree that Briningstool at 6'6" and Bentancur at 6'5", both of those guys could easily carry another 20-25 pounds without it effecting either of them in a negative way. Plus if they were another 20 to 25 heavier, it would cause most DBs to think about it before they stepped right in front of them to make a tackle, I know That I surely would if I only weighed 180 to 190 pounds like most college DBs weigh. I wouldn't be stepping directly in the path where a 250-260 pound TE was fixing to put the foot in that was carrying that big ole young man LOLOL

Seems like we underutilized TE early in the year but Brin became a real security blanket for Cade as the year progressed. Hopefully that continues and we get some of tbe young guys on the field as well. Doesn't really seem like we use two TE sets much, if ever.

No we don't nor have we been using two TEs at once, but I bet that if we did some of that this coming season, it would confuse the way the D was thinking since we'd never done much if any two TE sets!!!

If he could just step up a little he would be unstoppable. Great player.
