His star rating is irrelevant because of his academic uncertainty. Yahoo has him at 6-1 195 4.46 40 yard dash and a 2 star.

910 yards receiving, 60 tackles and 8 PBUs sounds like an athlete to me.

Go ahead and help him cheat on this ACT test and lets get him in here. Or is that just a UNC thing?

But I think I'll choose to agree with our University employees whose literal job is to scout players and evaluate talent that fills needs, something they have been doing since these players were in 9th grade or younger.
Thanks for your opinion though. I always get a good laugh when people on this board think they know what the #### they are talking about with recruiting.

Give him a blueshirt The practice of “over-signing” in the sport of NCAA Division I football has been around for a long time. However, until recently, colleges often worked through those over-signings by convincing a high school athlete to start out at a junior college and then transfer later on, or to delay their enrollment for a semester (“gray shirt”). The “blue shirt” approach is basically the same as a “gray shirt” with one very significant difference. Whereas a gray shirt athlete is delaying their enrollment at the university until the Spring semester, a “blue shirt” will enroll in the Fall, and attend as a walk-on athlete without a scholarship for at least the first semester. This will allow them to participate in practices, and perhaps even play in games as a true freshman, and then get a scholarship later on. As a walk-on during at least the first semester, they will postpone counting as an “initial counter” until the following academic year. In addition, if they come in as a non-recruited walk-on, this may present some advantages as well if they will be receiving non-athletic scholarships such as academic scholarships, or legacy scholarships.

He still has to meet NCAA requirements to play, whether he walks on or is on scholarship. You can qualify without high school grades or ACT scores by performing adequately in college (or JC).
But the ACC has a special rule: if he were to enroll at an ACC school before qualifying and then qualify later (by making passing grades in college), he can never play at that or any other ACC school. The SEC, I believe, allows only two athletes per year (across all sports) in that situation. Don't understand the logic behind the rule.
But that's why prep school and JC are so important.

> I know this may sound mean but with the guys we have > a chance with next year and the numbers being tight > we should not take this guy
Everybody I've talked to says he's legit, and potentially big-time. He's a 4-star, easily, in terms of athletic ability, whatever he's "rated". The problem was until recently he was not even remotely close to qualifying so he was largely overlooked.
I dunno if he was in the Shrine Bowl, but every year it seems you see 2-3 of these guys, guys who are just standing out but maybe have 1 offer to Memphis or ECU or some such and leave you scratching your head going: "Why didn't anybody offer this guy? Why aren't any of the services tracking him?" And the reason is usually grades.
You also usually don't see them again, unfortunately. I suspect this is a very optimistic article. If Johnson makes it in I'd personally be surprised, but if he can somehow work the miracle he needs he's also a take all the way because the guy can definitely ball.

Our average score increase is 312 points. It's an easy test to improve upon, as it doesn't change much year to year. Minus it getting a complete overhaul every 10 years or so.

But make no mistake about it, you worked hard for those 6 pts. The hardest working kids increase the most, no matter what program you're talking about.

take it upon himself to state in his article that it would upgrade Clemson's 2015 class if he makes it through, which speaks to the quality of the player. Instead his boss had to do it.
