The Lancet is the English version

of the Journal of the American Medical Association. It is strickly a medical and research publication, one of the worlds most prestigious. It recently published an editorial about the US. election:
"The USA leads the world in COVID-19 infections (>9 million) and deaths (225?000). 23 million Americans have filed for unemployment, while an estimated 14 million Americans and their dependents have lost employer-sponsored health coverage during the greatest public health crisis in a century. The fraying social safety net, continual erosion of trust in the public sector, the perceived diminished responsibility of the federal government, and political interference with crucial public health apparatus (most markedly the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) have culminated in the disastrous US response to the coronavirus pandemic. But the crucial acknowledgment that should be made is the absence of comprehensive health infrastructure. Without it the USA is at great risk. Despite this fact, conservatives continue to attempt, out of ideology and opposition, to dismantle the Affordable Care Act."

Their numbers went way up BECAUSE they relaxed restrictions. Now they are correcting their course.

With Biden in office, I guess we can all look forward to more lockdowns. Yippee. Biden rails on how shytty the economy is and how he’s gonna crush the virus. The reason the economy went south is primarily due to the lockdowns. So if we have more lockdowns the economy will improve? Short of an effective vaccine, we need to mitigate against Covid transmission, but keep working, going to school, etc. It’s a balancing act between keeping the virus somewhat controlled and yet continuing to keep our economy healthy and continuing to keep educating our children and youth. Lockdowns are not the answer. The vaccine may be as many flu vaccines are- not very effective especially in the elderly. Who knows? We have to open up as much as possible and yet we all need to do our part to lower the infection rate. Nothing the government does absent what we the people do will be particularly beneficial.

The virus is the sole reason our economy suffered in 2020.

Prior to COVID-19, we were enjoying unprecedented economic success.

Trump was goosing the stock market. Period. That is all he was doing.
In the process he was running up an absolutely unsustainable level of national debt, ballooning the Federal deficit worse than a tax-and-spend Dem on a cocaine binge, and monkeying with the Fed (and its vital perception of neutrality) into lowering interest rates at a time when it probably needed to be actually raising them. It's the financial equivalent of nitrous oxide or 30-0-0 fertilizer, and you don't do what Trump was doing for exactly the same reason you don't burn nitrous in your gas tank or dump 30-0-0 fertilizer on your lawn - yeah, it gooses your engine, for a brief time, or gives you an awesome lawn - for one season.
Then you burn up your engine or the root system in your lawn.
It was reckless, irresponsible, short-sighted, and more than passingly emblematic of how Trump does all his business. And in the process becoming the poster boy example of the very thing everybody else loathes about the Baby Boomers.

Yeah, the House democrats had nothing to do with deficits. They will shut the gov't down rather than agree to a reasonable budget.
So, fake news by queerzel again.

The Lancet is not the “version” of anything. Every other journal is a version of it, the Lancet is the straight up OG medical journal. Surgeons in the 1800’s used to write slam pieces about their competition and publish them in the Lancet.
