Given the current climate, why would anyone admit to having

any type of opposing viewpoint to Democrats, BLM, etc.?
Free speech is completely stifled. Productive conversations can't happen. People's livelihood is jeopardized.
Any type of pro-Trump or anti-BLM statement can cost you your job. Even being associated with people who makes those statements could cost you your job.
Hell, the stepmother of the officer who shot Rayshard Brooks lost her job due to the actions of her step son.
Assimilate or risk everything.

Your version of events is just a tad inaccurate.
Former HR boss Melissa Rolfe was told the day before her cop stepson shot Brooks dead in June that she was under investigation for complaints of creating an “uncomfortable and hostile working environment,” according to the lawsuit filed late Tuesday.
She had called employees at Equity Prime Mortgage “savages,” “dingbats” and “f–king #######,” and claimed one was hired because of her “big #####” — while another “must suck d–k really good,” the lawsuit claims.
“Even worse, she engaged in blatantly racist conduct,” claims the lawsuit filed by the Atlanta-based firm in Superior Court in Fulton County.
That included telling one black staffer to “upgrade [her] standards” and stop dating black men — and calling black men “weak,” saying, “Don’t no woman want a weak man,” according to the lawsuit.
“Not surprisingly, Rolfe lost people’s confidence in her ability to perform her job as an HR Director and was fired” on June 18, the lawsuit states, accusing her of also lying about her credentials.
Rolfe then started a “smear campaign” to “launch a national media firestorm,” using social media and TV interviews to lie and say she was only fired because of her stepson getting charged with murder, the filing says. https://nypost.com/2020/08/12/stepmom-of-rayshard-brooks-cop-accused-of-sexist-racist-behavior/

I didn’t get the NYPost version...

I got the local news version since I live in Atlanta, and it looked nothing like that.
On camera, she claimed it was due to her stepson.
The employer said her being associated with their company was costing them business.
That NYPost piece has a way different version that what the employer said on the news.

Well, what was it ? The comments mentioned in the article were nothing, maybe a visit to sensitivity training. Nobody in my organization saw anything major, however when 20-30000 people are on a call the comments fly by rather quickly.

They're tight lipped about it.

But a few overly racist statements by some, others were just inappropriate in that forum. Each person met with HR to discuss their point of view and their statements.
It wasn't a carpet firing just because of what they said in that giant company meeting.
There's a lesson to be learned to say something off color in a corporate wide meeting, that will then allow HR to scrutinize you and bring you up for review.

I just checked with a few people, the article included some of the worst except for some chick dropped the F-bomb when someone on the call or possibly in the comments went all political(which was apparently OK to do if you're on the proper side).
They didn't have an option to go through training and keep their job which to me is a loss. You had the chance to teach someone why they can't do those things and didn't take it.
It doesn't really surprise me though, the executive level people are out of touch. We had a similar call this week about early retirement package and mostly about upcoming layoffs. The executives spent half the time celebrating one of their own that was retiring, patting themselves on the back and chuckling it up. That caught hell from some of the 30K that were online and comments reflected it.

expressing their support for the President, and criticism of Democrats, or BLM. It's extremely the opposite, to my observation. Not sure where this sort of thinking comes from.

For the average Trump loyalist...

I think they still will. They may be quieter about it once this insanity fades away, but they'll always echo it when they think they're in the right company.
As for GOP politicians who doubled down on Trump, yeah, they'll deny it or distance themselves from it as much as they can. It will one day be political suicide to have been an actual political loyalist to Trump.

the media was very unfair to him and everyone was out to get him.
GOP politicians will certainly do a 180, which is really a 360 because they didn't like him in the first place. Kayleigh McEnany went from vociferous anti-Trumper to being his literal spokesperson. And I'm sure when Trump's out of office she'll try to reverse herself again.
