State going home from the CWS ticks me off
Jun 26, 2021, 11:32 AM
|

They’re sitting pretty at 2-0. Vandy has to beat them twice; they play yesterday with 13 players and at 2am are told they have to go home. Vandy now gets to the championship where Leiter starts game 1 (rather than pitching today) and Rocker would be ready again for game 3. I couldn’t care less about State winning but now the Duke of the SEC has a very clear path to another championship. If Vandy wins it all there is definitely an asterisk… at least to me.

State had a COVID outbreak
Jun 26, 2021, 11:41 AM

They only had 13 of 32 players available yesterday and at 2am they were notified they had to go home. That was my point; Vandy is now in the championship series by default. They should have had to beat State again today.

Lost 3 - 1 with 13 players available, after beating Vandy the previous game, when they had their players available.
The way this has been handled totally stinks. It is summer for Pete's sake.

Yesterday that had 13 players that were allowed to play, correct. So would not those 13 players still be allowed to play today? I believe it was said they had four pitcher. Give them the chance to play- if they loose-they went down trying. To be sent home at 2am- was just wrong!

how is it a terrible injustice? they had something like 16 players not get vaccinated. the ncaa isn’t going to turn around and let the kids who test positive go out and mix with other kids, and rightly so.

I agree with you. That whole fiasco couldnt have been handled worse. You have to give the Wolfpack credit for the way they responded yesterday with less than half their team allowed to play. Probably will lead to an SEC team winning the series.

I realize that there are many who oppose the vaccine but it should be a requirement in team sports for ALL the players to take the vaccine regardless of their political persuasion!

Well that “tested positive” were vaccinated lol so explain that… it’s not political for me, it’s freakin using some common sense which the NCAA has proven they have no idea what that is… at this point it should be treated like any illness … it’s your choice to get the vaccine and I’m not arguing that on here , but how can you pull a team out after 4 tested positive after having the vaccine and not having symptoms … that’s complete BS!! It should be treated like anything else at this point … everybody has had the chance to have the vaccine so why are we even testing … if you feel sick don’t play , if your fine play it’s not that hard! They aren’t testing the 20k or so in the stands like there’s no way everyone would test negative … think they would #### it down for that … no … it’s becoming a freakin joke at this point and I’m pissed for nc state honestly … it’s time to start using some fu**in common sense

The rules were in place. Unvaccinated participants were going to be tested every other day. A positive test by any player or coach required contact tracing and further testing and hence put the team in jeopardy.
Several players choice not to get vaccinated. The coach left it up to the players.
Sounds like State to me.

Explain how that didn't help Chris Paul. He was vaccinated and tested positive, had to set out the Games 1 & 2 before he passed 2 test back to back on different days. Took him a week to do so. There was hardly anything mentioned during the course of this, then boom, he is playing in Game 3. Very odd.

Well the WHO and CDC did not say we needed to home school the kids either... The WHO also said that the virus did NOT escape from the lab. Maybe you should look at the guy in charge of the WHO and his background before you put stock into what they say or do.

It's bc ESECPN has been handing out big bucks supporting their cash cow for a very long time, the SEC is the #1 supported conference by ESPN/ESECPN!!!! ESPN spends more money finding the weakness in all other conferences that they actually give financial support to also, but not near the money that they have invested into the SEC. It's win win situation for ESECPN bc, they get first choice of the games they have on TV with every one of the power 5 schools with the exception of Notre Dame, and NBC controls their home game viewing!!!

The Libs don't run the NCAA
The NCAA has clear rules on requirements for vaccinations. And if you aren't vaccinated, what the rules are. There are different rules for everything from TB to the flu to steroids. There is not a one size fits all policy. Despite what you read covid is more dangerous than the flu. You being sick with covid puts others at significant risk as it is highly transmissible.
The NCAA and every organisation is well within its rights to have rules and framework around it.
If you don't like it then move to Brazil and see what living life with "your freedom" is really like.

The vaccine doesn't stop the virus from entering your body, it just greatly increases your body's ability to fight it off and prevent it from getting a foothold and spreading.
I'm not sure how positive tests by vaccinated players are currently being handled by the NCAA, but I dont believe it's too uncommon to have them.

It was never said that a VACCINATED person couldn't get covid, vaccinated people just don't get as sick and die from covid, plus, it is less likely that a vaccinated person to infect someone else with covid. And that is the reason that the spread of the covid virus has been drastically reduced, it's bc so many have been vaccinated, and they are not spreading the virus!!!!
My wife and I both are over the age of 65, we both have been vaccinated, and we haven't had any side effects other than the flu like symptoms that I had for a day after the vaccination, but everything has been just fine since, and it's my opinion that if everybody got vaccinated, there would be nothing to complain about with all the covid rules that are there for a good reason, but if it wasn't a reason, all those covid rules would go away, just saying!!!

This is the other game called Corn-hole! Sometimes I believe the NCAA thinks fans are ignorant as to what they are doing now. Being 2-0 and basically being forced to play with 13 players is just another screw job by the NCAA. NC State earned their way to the college WS.
State made the mistake of beating Bama so the only way to get revenge was through the BS Covid protocol!
I hope the new commissioner of the conference will go to bat for NC State and the entire conference. It’s is probably to late for this years CWS, but there is something the ACC Commissioner can do that will keep all teams in the ACC from getting the “ Ron Cherry Shaft “ ??????

No excuses. A few idiots ruined it for the whole team
Jun 26, 2021, 4:03 PM
|
|
The coach is one of the idiots. "Will not say whether he had been vaccinated" is a sure sign he hasn't been. The needle isn't really that scary, all you big babies. It's safer than the polio vaccine so far.
Two unvaccinated players caught Covid and then protocol made them test the whole team. Four vaccinated players tested positive, likely having been infected by the two unvaccinated players. The positives and remaining unvaccinated players have to quarantine. The negative, vaccinated players don't have to quarantine.
A fool can do the math: 36 players on the team 13 vaccinated, covid negative players could play 4 vaccinated, covid positive had to quarantine.
So the team is likely 17 vaccinated, 18 unvaccinated. It's not completely the fault of the two unvaccinated guys who infected the others, because it could have been any of the other 16 unvaccinated.

Yes, you are almost correct
Jun 26, 2021, 11:10 PM
|
|
But unvaccinated and symptomatic = likely contagious. Most of the time, the simple explanation is the right explanation.
From what we know the vaccine doesn't prevent you from being initially infected by the virus. No vaccine does. It gives you a head start on fighting the virus and reduces your chances of developing symptoms and becoming contagious. You need to produce a lot of virus before it sheds enough to infect others.
But you miss the whole point. If they had ALL been vaccinated, then only 6 players would have been required to quarantine.

What happens if NCSU lose more players than required to participate in the championship game and have to forfeit? As a fan of the sport, I’d rather see a semi-final game get canned and be a bit disappointed rather than have the champion crowned without contest or against a half-strength opponent.
As a football analogy, think of the year ND made it to the championship game as the undefeated team only to get pounded by Alabama. That wasn’t an injury situation but a clear mismatch in the highest stakes game of the year. I think I watched a quarter and moved on in disappointment.

To provide context that the anti-vaxx don't

[ in reply to Warnings have been added to vaccine paperwork ] |

or can't because they don't read past the headline:
Incidence of heart inflammation per vaccine dose: 12.6/million Deaths from covid for all US residents: 1860/million
Here's some interesting stats for firearm deaths: Total firearm deaths for all US residents: 121/million Suicide deaths by firearms: 73/million Accidental deaths by firearms: 1/million Remainder (murder, self-defense, law enforcement) 47/million
The first takeaway is that a gun owner is more likely to kill himself by suicide or accident than to kill or be killed by another, lawful and unlawful. We all knew that. The second takeaway is that the accidental death rate is exaggerated by gun safety advocates. You are actually less likely to accidentally kill yourself than develop heart inflammation from a covid vaccine. You are still far more likely to kill yourself than to develop heart inflammation from a vaccine, but I think most of us knew that as well.
