I'm starting to regret the joy I felt on January 1st 2017.

Urban Meyer is a jerk, to put it mildly. I can hope that the Jags turn the franchise around and win a few Super Bowls. But, that doesn't mean I will have to like him. He's a great coach, but he's still a jerk. I can separate the two. Like Steve Spurrier and Bob Knight.

Can't stand the guy, but he's a coach who knows how to assemble a winning team.

It's going to be really hard for me to listen to this man period, let alone listening to him and all the praise he'll get if they are successful!
Talk about being between a rock and hard place!? ????

I do recall Urban speaking well of Clemson more than once when he would work our games for TV. He was amazed at our campus and facilities.

Had he not coached at ZerOhio State I maybe could like him just a little! Seriously though i have no problem with Meyer. Hope he does well with his new dynamic duo.

Don’t think I will ever like him.

His philosophy on running college football programs is the antithesis to Dabo’s. If you ever read articles on how he set up his programs it is interesting. Creates an inner circle of essentially untouchables. They got better food, better everything and then if there was a conduct issue that inner circle rarely got more than a hand slap. Now I know that part is more typical. But IMO even though he won at Florida, he left it worse than he found it. I also think some of the conduct issues his players had would have been either stopped or kicked off under Dabo. To be fair I think Hernandez was just broken and other than recruiting him and letting him stay through I don’t blame him for that. Now it will be interesting to see if he deals with grown men, professionals better than he did college kids. Maybe that’s more his thing because they are more accountable to themselves. And I do have to say he at least put two high character folks in his locker room last night. Just would take a lot to change my opinion of him.

You make a very good point.
He has a lot in common, in coaching philosophy, with Jimbo Fisher. Great recruiter. Excellent X and O coach. But, definitely plays favorites with players.
Good for short term success, but not for building a program.
Put him in the same category as Barry Switzer.

I remember when some great college coach was tapped to coach my NFL team. Spurrier just highlighted how dysfunctional the Washington Snyder is/was/will be.

No but for some reason I trust him with Trevor and Travis. Tebow loves him can’t be as bad as we think

Maybe it's worse than we think. Being a Jags fan I'm sure you have heard that Tebow had a tryout as a tightend. You may also know that Myer and Tebow live 3 doors apart. What kind of love/hate triangle would that be if Tebow makes the team?

Interesting point, I think if anything the on field role would be minimal and the off field role and helping mold Trevor while being a good influence would be a positive. I don’t think ego or favoritism would be a factor at this point of Tim’s career

What about Myer's ego and his loyalty to his National Championship winning QB? And now his neighbor. Really, if Tebow makes the team, how many trick plays would Myer call that gives the ball to Tebow and takes it out of Trevor's hand? Come on man!

Trevor is already a good person and doesn’t need Tebow around. He sure as heck doesn’t need Tebow try to coach him up at playing QB!

There is never any regret in that joy. Sat around the 50 with my old roommates OSU guys and loved every minute of it.

Give him credit, at least he drafted Clemson players, unlike the Panthers.
