Sneak ahead to next season??

I know a lot to be determined today, but looks like a lot of success next season is going to be determined on a lot guys making huge improvements by next season, getting Alex Hemenway healthy to be a key part of the team, and most importantly finding at least two big major contributers in the transfer portal at PF to replace PJ Hall, and a very good lead guard or PG type to replace Hunter or Girrard.
Chef will be the only starter back and could see him going up in scoring to about 13 to 15 ppg, but he needs help inside from a key cog to reducè attention on him. Godfrey is too small at 6-7 to play center so he stays at the 6th man. Wiggins will move back to the small forward starter I assume with Clark leaving, just hope his defense improves a lot.
Not sure if Dillion or Beadle are good enough to start unless improve a lot.
I think the recruits coming in are talented obviously, but not key figures early on, and will be most likeky role players next season.
The two guys would be worried about being courted from the portal are Wiggins and Godfrey. Wiggins because i think other teams will try to convince him he has been under used the right way, and Godfrey because he will still be playing behind Chef and not a starter.
Again, the staff needs to bring at least two top 50 transfers in the portal on the lines of Girrard and Clark to really have a good season and get back to the Dance. Thoughts?

I forgot about the transfer from Air Force. I assume he will move into Girrard's spot?
But still need two really good transfers. I hope the teams success could help in bringing some really good game changers in.

I think at least one more win and keeping the positive rhetoric going as long as possible could be attractive for some good transfers looking to make a move.

I agree Wiggins is a concern for me he is a talented player and could be a target. A big physical presence inside would be great and someone that can handle the ball. Brownell will use the portal and hopefully can add some needs

PJ Hall plays Center, not PF. Chef and RJ are the Power Forwards and would be greatly undersized as a starting center. They need a True Starter in the portal at the Center position and a proven SG. Dillon is much more of a distributor at PG, which works when you have scorers at SF and SG.

True, but PJ being 6-10 provides center type ability. Id say a guy 6-9 or taller who like PJ has stretch 4 skills would help. Yes, need bigtime wing like 6-3 or taller who can create his own shot.

Hemenway has a COVID year? If he does come back he will be no more than a small role player.

Hemenway averaged double-digits in his 12 starts last year

If he stays healthy, he’s my pick as our leading scorer, if Chase doesn’t return.

Good conversation. I think you have to see who enters the portal. I could see Beadle and Wiggins if a couple do take advantage of the extra year.

Replacing Girard is harder than most realize. He’s one of the best pure shooters of all time. His name is at the top of so many stat columns. Hemenway on his best day doesn’t fit in Girards category. PJ Hall is almost impossible to replace. I agree he is more of a power forward than center. It will be his role in the NBA. If we could get a true center that would be an upgrade. Especially if they are a future NBA all star. Jack Clark is another difference maker. He is a huge spark for the team. Perhaps the easiest piece to replace will be Chase Hunter. He’s been a liability most of the time. When he plays like he did against NM, we are a much different team. He created offense and handled the ball well. He also only had one bone headed lazy turnover I can remember.
Most don’t realize the talent Brownell assembled in this team. I felt all along this bunch was capable of an elite 8 run if the coach played the calls right and made the right adjustments. I just don’t trust CBB to make the right calls. I hope we can make a final four run but in reality feel the exit happens this evening. Let’s face it, Neff isn’t going to make any moves at head coach. Last year was the perfect time to wash our hands of CBB and he didn’t take it.
As far as the recruits, you never know until they hit the floor. They may be good enough to start and perform well. They may need two years of development. We don’t have any true one and done players that usually make blue blood teams elite.
Picking up proven players through the portal depends on tonight. The deeper we run into the tourney, the better chance we have at landing some great transfers. It also depends on how they view CBB and the backing he gets from the administration. We don’t exactly invest in mens basketball like we do in football or even baseball.
I believe Brownell has been here much longer than his record deserves. Even Cliff Ellis won a regular season ACC Championship. Ellis also equaled CBB’s deepest tourney run. I just wish we would find the equivalent of Dabo and build the facilities to draw blue chip recruits in. Until then, I’ll pull for our Tigers knowing we may get our coached in the next game or blow them out by twenty.

Yes. We need a future NBA all star center. That would be helpful.
Anybody got a spare?

We almost had a good thread discussing basketball without the LF trashing our coach.
Tonight has zero impact on which transfers we land as we picked up a great class last year with a very bad tournament experience

The 2024 class Brad is going to bring even before having any transfer commitments is already the best he will bring in overall.
Three players are:
Dallas Thomas (#133 overall, #30 PF)
Ace Buckner (#135 Overall, #18 CG/Combo Guard)
Del Jones (#154 Overall, #15 PG)
Three basically top-150 recruits is fantastic.
Dallas Thomas is going to be in my opinion very similar to Jaron Blossomgame, probably better and more athletic though.
I also think Dallas Thomas will end up as Brad’s most successful player past college and at Clemson. He’s a freak athlete.
There are definitely some centers that have metered the portal with some big size, so I expect Brad to be able to get SOMEBODY after what we’ve done this year.
But a great run in this tournament would help a ton as far as portal recruiting and getting those replacements.

If Beadle can develop a better outside shot he could be a very good point guard. He has a good ability to penetrate and take the ball to the basket. Girard doesn’t do this and Chase can but doesn’t do it a lot. We should see a different offense with Beadle at point if that is the way we go.

I think Scheiflien and Godfrey could start along side one another next year. They get plenty minutes as a duo this year.
