Situation calls for out of the box thinking... Power Play

How about this... Clemson, GT, FSU, Miami, and VT form a football alliance.
Would even throw in ND, WVU, BC, UNC, NCSU and UVA if they want to come along. With VT/UVA legislative ties, they might have to be a package deal anyway. Could allow for a modified schedule with ND if they so chose, but want them for "Home" games
Key points:
No legitimate playoff system could ignore this combined entity We all schedule and play each other every year Compelling TV and negotiating power Status quo fine for academics, basketball & other sports.
This would be the best way to take the bull by the horns and squash this brewing disaster. Obviously a lot to work out, but I don't see a fatal flaw.
Need a Commish asap.

Question. Could Clemson and FSU pull their FB only out of the acc and do what ND does. Market their own TV rights as a pair.

I would agree with this. That's why I think we need to divide off the weak football sisters, potentially add some stronger players (WVU, ND), and negotiate as a group.

That looks risky to me. Guess I'm just not a big risk taker with just one other school. However, it is an interesting idea, that needs some thought.

N.D. ain't coming,UNC won't go anywere without Duke(or visa versa)B.C. and UVA won't bring that much to the equation. Also how could you have a modified schedule with Notre Dame? What they have now isn't exactly an equitable arrangement if you throw out the argument that they probably will dictate which teams they play each year at "HOME" and away(ex.Clemson at South Bend vs Duke on the road). Also how could we schedule and play each other every year when you are proposing that modified schedule with Notre Dame? And as of yet we have no legitimate playoff system. So,imo, while your situation might not have a fatal flaw, but it needs more thought.

ND would be in for the same reasons and to the same extent they are to be aligned with the ACC in the future No disruption with BBall, and NC/NCSU would still have room to schedule the tobacco road schools as they wanted, just as "OOC" opponents
Reality is Duke, WF, Cuse, Pitt and UCONN are all boat anchor drags on our football value.

with penn state in the throws of a heavy probation, pitt should reap the benefits of the recruiting in the pa,nj,ny area. they (pitt) were a force in the past (more than just occassionaly) and i think they will be again, now that they are at least a step up from the big east.

Interesting, but not sure we could pull that off. The TV contract might be difficult. What makes you think ND would buy in, if they would it would be a lot easier.

why not go whole hog and visualize a new conference:
Call it the ALL-AMERICAN....
Clemson FSU GT Miami VT UNC NC State WVA Pitt Penn State Tennessee KY ND Ohio State Michigan Michigan State
The Power 16...12 contiguous states stretching north, south and east with some of the most storied programs, great football and basketball powers, large stadiums, coliseums...with half probably ready to go; the other half to be dragged kicking and screaming...until each realizes the super mega-bucks the conference could exact from the networks! BOOM....lol
