Recruits don't come to Clemson

because we are in the acc.they come because we are a very highly rated academic university, a football team that has tradition and the area the school is in.we have great facilities and will always be competitive no matter what conf we are in.when the acc was much weaker in football, we competed with the best.the sec, the big 12 and big 10 have always had better success than the acc, but we beat ga.,penn.st.,nd.and okla.we also beat neb.for the nc.we can and will be that again and still be in the acc.

Have you ever looked at the all time record against UGA? Bama? we competed for a 10 year period. And very few football players care about academics, if that were the case, Duke would be dominating year in and year out.

So? SEC schools lose kids every year to other conferences.

Doesn't prove or disprove anything. Clemson and Dabo will always compete with the best in recruiting regardless of what conference Clemson is in.

This is foolish thinking

This is not 1960 or 1980. Its a new world and money is the name of the game. We may not feel it now but as those chicken heads down south get richer and able to upgrade to the latest in everything and we can't afford to keep up with the jones then the recruits start paying attention and not coming to our beloved university anymore and when that ship starts turning it will eventually sink. It would be a slow process but a sure one. Business 101.

For one second that we don't lose recruits to other schools asking if they want to play Wake, BC, and Duke or Bama, LSU, UF, and UGA then you are lying to yourself. It happens day in day out.

I really do not think you have the right comparison here.

Bama, LSU, UF, and UGA compare just fine to Va. Tech, FSU, Georgia Tech, and Miami. Also, Wake, BC, and Duke compare more to Vandy, Kentucky, and Mississippi. The level of competition is not the problem. Money is the first and last issue here.

You have it backwards.

Your logic is that Clemson will always get recruits (even in the ACC) because it has great facilities, tradition and a winning tradition. Unfortunately, if we stay with the ACC our competition in the region (SCU, UGA, etc...) will be able to outspend us on facilities by 50+ million over the next ten years (see the TBS blog). Ask Dabo (or Tommy Bowden who kept calling for new facilities) how many recruits you will lose if that happens, and when you lose recruits, that winning tradition goes out the window. Conference alignment does matter, a lot!
