ok... lets talk clemson's style of play...

there are many on here, who obviously dont understand much about basketball, who want to see a different style of play...
I can assure you, that coach brownell WANTS to run up and down and play a faster style of game. this would make his already tough defense even better if the other team is worn out from running up and down the court with us. i would also think that coach brownell wants to press more. but with the bodies that we have, we just cant do it.
The "slow it down" type of play is something that we MUST do in order to have a chance to win games.
if you guys watch the unc game or the last 5 mins of the 1st half against syracuse, we got out of our style and played uptempo and got ABSOLUTELY TORCHED.
so, i guess you guys would rather see us get beat by 30 but play uptempo rather than play the best style we can with what we have and have a chance to win games???
i'll personally take the latter all day long.
Go Tigers!

recently and bashing brownell while heralding oliver purnell.
dont get me wrong, i appreciate what purnell did. but i think he reached his ceiling and brownell was able to do more with his players than what purnell did.

i do grow tired of those that bash coach purnell for whatever reason they do. maybe they don't know how to defend brad without tearing down what op did or accomplished before brad's arrival? idk?
honestly, i don't care who the coach is; what's in a name? i just want what's best for clemson & i'll always thank those that made the situation better, which i believe op did.

He left us holding the bag in the middle of the night. He built the program back up, but then totally torched it as he left. He essentially cost us 2 recruiting classes and you are seeing the results of that right now.

I'm find with working for a good shot. standing there without moving till the clock runs down and you have to force something doesnt seem to put any pressure on the defense or help wear them down. you create shots with ball movement and or player movement. our bore them to distaction is usually real effective.

point guard. Roper is the only player on the team able to create shot opportunities for other players. Rod Hall plays hard and is great on defense, but he rarely gets any assists. I think Brownell is doing a good job, but putting Roper at SG and Hall as starting PG, is a huge mistake.

And don't say back up PG, because you will really show your basketball IQ then.

and yes as a back up PG. That shows my Basketball IQ is high. When you have a shorter player that is great at defense and is a liability on offense, you put him at back PG.

Notice how he is getting less shot opportunities this year. That's because he isn't uncomfortable at SG. You really know little of basketball if you think Jordan Roper isn't a PG and that he shouldn't be.

"combo" guard at best.
Honestly, he is one of those guys that really doesnt have a position on the court. he doesnt have the passing skills or ability to create opportunities for other guys that are needed to be a PG and he is really too small to be a SG at this level... That is why you saw him in limited action on saturday. he was a bad matchup for UVA's big lineup.
I like Jordan Roper a lot. we are a better team with him but he is CERTAINLY not a PG.
Also, he never played PG last year. he may have brought the ball down the court some, but then again, so did milton jennings at times. that doesnt = point guard.

he recruited. I do have faith in him and this style of play gives us a chance to win but at some point he has to hit on some recruits and I think he may have with the 2 that are coming in now and jaron blosomgame.
15-9 and 6-6 in ACC play is great considering what was predicted

slower tempo out of necessity. Yes - Brownlee preaches tough defense, and that's a good thing - a VERY good thing, but unfortunately, since that's all they've seen since Brownwell has been here, a lot of people assume that's Brownell style basketball. I don't think it is. That doesn't mean we wouldn't play a faster tempo if we could, it's just that we have to.
Having said that, it is also a huge mistake to get complacent, which I think we often do on offense, and just calmly pass the ball around the perimeter for 30 seconds, only to have to force up something as the clock is running out. We need to be extremely active, working like #### for the shot from the get-go, and then taking the shot when it's there; but all to often we don't. I'm sure that's not the way Brownlee draws it up, but we just don't have guys that can create anything or that have the confidence to do that.

I find it funny how people continually bash him. This is a team picked to finish next to last in the ACC but he has managed to find a way to not only give us chances to win but to win a whole heck of a lot more games than i thought we would. He also doesnt get credit for developing KJ into the player he is today either. KJ was raw talent and under BB he has ballooned into one of the best players in the league and in the nation. Im happy about what OP did for Clemson and was pissed to see him go but I wouldnt trade BB for OP. The story of this season has yet to be written but if some way this team finds a way into the tournament there is no real way anyone can disagree that this would be one of the best coaching jobs done at Clemson in a looooong time. I have never seen a fanbase so idiotic that a team finds a way to win and they still want to bash the coach just because he doesnt play the style you want. This style puts us in a position to win and I will take it every day (and yes it is difficult to watch majority of the time) but i will take these ugly-gutsy wins every day than trying to run the floor and getting beat by 20+ points. Im one of the few that attend every home basketball game and im proud to have BB on our side. When Coach K weeks after we played them still gives credit to BB and this team that should tell you something. Im glad that the opinions of the idiots go unheard by those who matter. If your a fan then support this team instead of nitpicking ways to bash it.

The fact may remain that Brownswell's(sp?) program becomes extinct during the last stretch of games. His ability to get guys to keep games close has been uplifting but I still believe we should keep our options open at this point.
