No power since about 1 last night and around 3" of rain. We have laptops so can watch movies and have the router running on a battery.
Time to get out the survival gear and make lunch. Camping out in a house aint too bad.

We had no power from about 5PM until 9:30. You wanna talk about dark and quiet, even the wildlife were eerily quiet.
It was nice. Then it come back on and my dogs and cat were so happy LOL, they were not sure what was going on with the candlelight and quiet and darkness

It was peaceful but also, if you have Tinnitus, kind of unbearable. M
Mine has progressed to the point it is there when I wake, already at a high tone, and is there when I lay my head down at night. Have tried multiple things, nothing works

The storm that hit Rock Hill few Thursdays ago cut my power for more than 8 hours. Thought that was bad until found out the back two streets of the subdivision were out for 27 hours and 16 for those on the other side of my street. Several trees down and piles of smaller limbs in front of most houses. We're north of the Speedway.

Ours is still out as well. Still waiting on adjuster and contractor to remove tree and patch the roof. We are moving into a new home in 3 weeks. It will have a Generac generator. We have a well at the new house so it’s a necessity.

I have septic tank, but city water comes out here. Water is a really big deal so the Generac is a good deal for you. I looked into them once, seems like best if if you have natural gas to work it.
I have solar panels on my dock and about 700AH in batteries. Three are new 100ah Lithium. with a converter could run some things like the fridge or a microwave if needed.
I have a large collection of movies and a couple laptops. Keeping them charged up would be easy. Today power is off, but my router comes in over the ATT phone line and up. It is easy to power, so as long as internet is up, I can hook in. I am not a phone person, but the Bride is. Out here it needs my WiFi to work, so another reason to power the router.
I used to be extremely well stocked with food, etc, but lost all that. I have gotten in many things including some cooking gear in the last months. I'll keep adding to that, but could feed us now for a while.
A day like this is a good test to see if you are ready for a longer time off grid.
