It’s funny

If you don’t care about MLB, just move on.

That the Angels have pulled 2 of the best 3 baseball players of all time, and haven’t made the playoffs, nor will they.

From an ability perspective, Shohei Ohtani is hands down the most talented player to ever play. If you don’t know much about him, look at what he’s done.

Mike Trout has been labeled by most as the greatest of all time through his career, mostly through the 2010s.

They need to go separate ways, or join again on another team. A team that has the budget and brains to know how to surrounds them with the pieces.

There’s no way that the Braves could have budget room for both of them, but they could maybe bring in one. I know Atlanta hasn’t been really a predicted spot for other Trout or Ohtani, but this would be a piece of pieces that will establish a franchise dynasty.

A World Series appearance for the Braves is especially important because of these 2.

Ohtani would be the one I want. The Dodgers have been mostly predicted because it’s obviously closer to Japan, and it’s the Dodgers. Makes the most sense. But the Mets have also been talked up for him recently.

But if you’re looking at what teams have been the best and most consistent, it’s the Astros, Braves, and Dodgers. These really are the only 3 teams that you can fully expect to win their respective division every year.

Obviously you could ask if the Braves even needs either. But getting either would just make things better.

The Dodgers have been down in the last couple years, the Astros aren’t currently dominating, and the Braves are the best team in the whole league.

Angels are having a decent season

only 6 games back of the Rangers right now. Doubt they'll entertain offers for either by the deadline unless they just come out flat after the break.

Mike honestly will go nowhere 100%. Haven’t even really been any major talks about him actually leaving. If he did it would be the Phillies, or maybe the Yankees.

But Shohei needs to be on the biggest stage. He wants to be the best. I know every player does, but like I said if you just learn about the things Ohtani has done to sacrifice in order to be the best ever, it tells you why he’s so good.

If not this year, I believe it will soon. Mike Trout is a huge reason he is sticking around. But the Angels aren’t a sustainable enough organization. They can’t sustain season success, much less the consistent postseason success that is needed for World Series titles.

I think eventually he will move. Because his mission isn’t about loyalty or money. If it was, he’d still be in Japan at home.

Braves are having a great year. Why bring in someone

and possibly hurt the teams chemistry?

However, I agree, both players are tremendous athletes.

The Astros have made 6 straight ALCS appearances and have never had a top 5 payroll in that time. I don’t think they’ll be in play for either.

The reason they don't win is because their two combined contracts deplete a majority of the team's entire payroll budget. If you want to win and sign max contracts there are only 2-3 teams that are willing to take on the luxury taxes involved with building a competitive team around them.
Shohei's next contract will be the largest ever and well over $500 million. When that happens, Trout and Shohei's combined contracts will be more than 6 teams' total annual payrolls and 50% or more of the total payrolls for half the teams in the league. That doesn't leave much room to build around two mega contracts to win.
The Braves don't sign mega stars to handcuffing contracts. Look at Freeman and Swanson. They wanted max long-term deals and the Braves held steady, so they walked. They were both replaced with cheaper payroll players that are arguably better and younger. Ozuna's contract is the only mistake AA has made so far at Atlanta. Had he been convicted of the domestic abuse last year the Braves would have dropped that contract for breech.
FYI: Acuna is the player of this generation. He is doing things that have never been done before in the history of baseball. He has 20+ HRs, 40+ stolen bases, and 50+ RBIs before the All-Star break. He's a gold glove outfielder with an elite arm. He is a menace on the base paths. He can hit the ball to any part of the filed with elite power. The reason he gets hit so much is because the only chance a pitcher has of getting a fastball by him is to get it in under his arms. Even then you better get it there quick or he's putting it in the left field bleachers.

You need to take into consideration the higher difficulty of the modern era of baseball compared to the early 1900s and through the 1900s.

It’s incredibly harder to hit a baseball now. It’s almost exactly comparable to evolution in a way (not trying to bring up any beliefs about anything). The pitchers have adjusted according to better hitting over time, and hitters have adjusted to better pitching over time. Pitchers are throwing 100+ regularly.

There are more players that are becoming 2-way players (Pithcer/Hitter).

So, it’s not based on accolades or achievements when I’m saying they are 2 of the best ever. It’s based off of what they have shown they are capable of in this era.

Shohei the other night hit 2 home runs and struck out 10 batters. And he’s throwing 102 mph. If you can tell me another player that has ever been able to perform this way, I’m all ears. He also has tremendous speed, which just adds on.

Trout is up with the 5 best of all time. Ohtani might be one day. He is the most dynamic player. He is one of a kind. We will just see what he is doing in 5 years.

I think Ohtani goes to the Dodgers, but time will tell. I know the Angeles shelf trade Ohtani and Trout now and just plan for a few years from now.

Ohtani is a unicorn we haven't seen in a hundred years. Ranks up there with the Babe.

I gave up on MLB the year the World Series was cancelled because of a player's strike.
Lost me completely.
