Interesting worship time today.

Is not often that the text is 52 verses, even less often you'd want to hear that many at one sitting, but this was fun. Stephen in front of the Sanhedrin. Similar false charges as with Jesus, said Stephen was disrespecting Moses and the temple. Asked for a defense, Stephen said:

"You guys know the same story I do. It started with Abraham, and from the beginning he was told there would be a slavery time in Egypt. Our own patriarchs saw to it, selling Joseph into it, which they then followed. So it was Moses who led us out, and we couldn't even last the journey to freedom, making a golden idol along the way. The Ark was then made, and kept in a tent. No one ever considered a permanent building for it necessary until David got the idea, and even then it was Solomon who did it. So not only was it never really necessary, but at the start God said the idea was silly, asking how one would house Him with materials He created. Now here we are, still acting like we did in the desert, persecuting every prophet who dared speak from then until now, even killing the Messiah they promised us. So, really, I dont see why what I have to say should be so bothersome when none of us believe what is right in front of us anyway." (Paraphrase)

That got him killed, within an hour.

The human condition is this: we will not put up with anyone or anything that conflicts with our sense of self. We will make up whatever ethic is necessary to support what we want to be, and we will destroy everything else. Whether believer or atheist, we understand this about ourselves and turn to the Creator/Messiah, or we pick up a rock.

Stalin, Xi, Un, Israel, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Yemen, etc... and, "DHS, FBI warn faith-based communities they 'will likely continue to be targets of violence'" - ABC News.

So, you're wrong there. But it is the individual who is the subject of the text, and the post. So, do you think it is you who has evolved beyond human sins?

I have to agree with CUintulsa® on this one, all human atrocities were caused, indirectly, by evolution.

Seems to be the case, as the word was used in his response.

It can be responsible for both, no? Are there not bad “mutations”? Doesn’t evolution take time? Honest questions as you seem to know much more about it than me.

In the first century these horrific government sanctioned murders were allowed. Hence Jesus’ death on the cross and the execution mentioned in the OP. Rome was the greatest power in the world at that time. Do you think a mob could get away with that today in America?

Is the fact that we as a species are moving toward tolerance of all religious viewpoints and beliefs not an example of evolution?

There are always stragglers like CUintulsa® who refuse to see the light….

Jk. But seriously, look at how the world as a whole has changed in just the last 100 years. If we were created in perfect form why are we getting better?

Side note, I always laugh when I hear someone, especially in America, lament about how terrible the world has become. We don’t have to worry about someone being hung in a tree for being the wrong color or nailed to a cross for teaching a different religious interpretation. This is without a doubt the safest time in human history to be alive.

It was a tongue-in-cheek answer.

Evolution is responsible for all life on earth, therefore it is (indirectly) responsible for both religious and non-religious atrocities.
