Launching my startup!

Mar 5, 2018, 10:20 AM

So, I teased last week about my startup, but I never got around to posting about it. I've been working on this since well before football season, and to get to this point is incredibly exciting.

We're launching March 19th. I've got the MVP built, and have a few Clients beta testing it now.

We're an all-in-one CRM, Helpdesk, and Project Management suite, geared towards small and medium sized businesses, with professional services available to help people get the most out of the product as possible (contact imports, custom reports, etc). With plenty of customization options, we can help teams make it feel like their own branded solution very quickly.

Any how, our coming soon website is live now - http://www.x20.io/

I've started sending swag to random people that sign up on our mailing list. If y'all are in the market for a solution, or know people that are, I'd love it if you send them my way.

Once I hit 1,000 active users (Not customers, users) I'm moving to Austin, and you all know that's gonna mean the travelling bourbon circus will be making more frequent appearances in Clemson.

We use Microsoft CRM here right now and it kind of blows.

Mar 5, 2018, 10:34 AM

How does yours compare on a helpdesk case management standpoint?

Disclaimer, I am not the decision maker on CRM solutions.

We've got a pretty robust feature set.

Mar 5, 2018, 10:40 AM

But honestly, our value comes from the fact we've tightly integrated the helpdesk, crm, and projects together.

If you're just looking at helpdesk, we're not the solution you want, and I don't really care to ######## you and say we are.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well we're definitely using it on the sales end as well with

customer and prospect management. I just don't deal with that so I don't know how it works for them. As far as projects go I don't think we'd use that end too much, but I also don't know what our dev team uses to manage that so it may not be for us.

I just hate the constant crashes we encounter now just trying to do something simple like save an update to a ticket.

Dynamics does suck bawls. It might be the buggiest thing I've ever interacted with, but we host on our own servers so that may be the issue.

Mar 5, 2018, 11:06 AM

Now......what does it actually DO? ;)

The pic looks like Google Calendar kind of. A screen cap of a calendar. The user has adblock plus and ghostery installed. Advertising execs might be turned off by that. I'd show just the screen and nothing else.

As for me, if you can find a solution that puts someone's ### in a car and they can call someone, set up an appointment, meet with them somewhere in SC (in person) and ask them the right questions dressed nicely and in a polite manner, in a statement, and search courthouse records, in person, then I'll send you a holla.

If the job had been dress nice, get in the car and make the appointment that I called to set up to politely threaten the truth out of someone with various weapons and torture devices, then I think I could have filled your need.

I'm intrigued about your cloud presence, and wonder about other small apps I'm seeing placed there.

What security have you put in place around it? Are you ding your own load balancing, or are you buying that service? Did you set up security groups, or the firewalls, or A/V? What is the retention plan for the data? For BC/DR, what is the RTO/RPO?

I'm not busting your balls, I'm genuinely curious. I've been pretty shocked by the number of folks simply building a server in the cloud and not thinking about any of this kind of thing.

A few answers

Mar 5, 2018, 11:36 AM

We started off doing everything with 128-bit SSL from the start. Fortunately, we don't handle payment processing directly, so we don't have any of those compliance headaches.

The MSP is handling server security and load balancing. I have pen testing happening daily, and the managed infrastructure is constantly updating.

Data retention for customers is 180 days after any termination of their agreement.

Disaster recovery is handled on my end - I have tools for users to back up their own data on demand, and we do backups daily, and keep a copy in a separate data center.

Generally, in the event that we lose a server, or you have an idiot use rm -rf * we can be back up within 2 hours after fail over.

Mar 5, 2018, 11:40 AM

In product management, you don't do any work directly, instead you eliminate roadblocks and make people around you more efficient. When you are able to make the people around you better, it multiplies the amount of work that gets done.
