Trivia #2 - It ain't easy being green, or a nut

The early history of the US was a congressional balance between North and South.
After the original 13 states formed a union, every southern state that was added was balanced by a northern state, to keep parity, all the way across the country, right up to the Civil War.
On this date, June 1, Kentucky joined in 1792 and Tennessee joined in 1798.
What two northern states book-ended the addition of these two southern states? (One state was added before Ky and Tn, and one state after)

I’m guessing Ohio and Vermont (changed it after reading the hint again)

I've got a good friend who worked as a newspaper editor in NC, so a part of her job was to stop certain headlines writers would try to slip past her.
One of the best was an 18-wheeler that went off the road and lost its entire cargo.
The headline would have been "TRUCKER DUMPS MASSIVE LOAD IN CLIMAX." But it never made it print because of her eagle eye.

85 and Father G will have to split credit on this one for naming every SC'linans favorite nut state, the bucknuts of Ohio, added in 1803.
The tougher one was the Green Mountain state, Vermont, added in 1791.

it's not so much a town, but a creek/boat landing in the Lowcountry. Combahee River, off Hwy17 between Charleston and Beaufort.
Watch your Googling, evidently folks like to pose nekkid by this sign.

For those that like this sort of thing, the other pairings were:
Louisiana - Indiana
Miss - Illinois
Ala - Maine
Mizzou - Ark
Mich - Fla
Tx - Iowa
Wis - Cal (which broke the pattern because everybody wants GOLD!)
