I'm about to have to do the prep, and I'm not looking forward to the process.

they are not too bad. The process has greatly improved over the past 10 years. First time I had one was like 2004 and I was 13. Really sucked because the stuff tasted horrendous and the laxative was terrible. But when I had one just 2 years ago the stuff did not taste bad at all and the night before wasn't bad. The procedure itself is a piece of cake.

Prep is the tough part. They have good drugs now so you're pretty much wide awake when it's done. Enjoy!

Just had one in July. Worst part is you will be tired from the prep but in an odd way you kinda feel "good" because you have done an ultimate cleanse. The procedure itself you won't even know it happened. The first 5 minutes of sedation you will probably feel the best you have in your life. They give you some really good narcotics. Don't sweat it at all

I asked "can you come back in about 30 minutes? I want to roll over and go back to sleep. That was the best sleep I have ever had" The nurse looked at me and said " no sir, you must get up now!" My wife about died laughing because I was begging them to let me go back to sleep......lol

Probably why it is posted in the Amphitheater, not football. To answer the original question, I have had several and after the prep, it is not bad at all. The drugs are great!

Yes, the worst part of it is having to not eat solids while drinking/taking all that crap to flush the system.
I recommend you get any early morning colonoscopy scope.
Mine was a 3:00 PM which added extra time on the waiting while not properly eating anything but clear liquids.

I've had 2, not too bad. Prep is the worst part, having to sit on the pot and all. After you wake up, you'll have to fart before they'll let you go, but that's not a problem. Get appt. as early as possible. Less chance Dr. will be running late vs later in the day.

Prep has improved dramatically. If I recall last time I had to start prep at noon and drink swill all day. This time it starts at 5 pm and there's only two doses. Prep is worse than the procedure but it won't kill you. My doc is a buddy so that amuses hell outta both of us.

They will administer Michael Jackson sedative. You will be awake before you know it with no memory of the event. Maybe a little residual gas.
Everything is going to be fine.

I had one a few months ago. Before I got one, my father's experience is all I had to go on. It is nothing like it used to be. You have nothing to worry about. Unless you don't like taking a nap.
Now a days they go twice as far with the camera. As a result they put you to sleep during the procedure and wake you up after it's over.
The worst part is the night before. Make sure you are near the toilet when you drink the stuff to clean you out. I would suggest sitting on the toilet as soon as you drink the stuff. I my be exaggerating some but not much.

A Colonoscopy saved my life!
Nov 16, 2016, 6:48 PM
|
|
The prep was nothing compared to the surgery. By getting a colonoscopy when I turned 50 they were able to catch the cancer in early stages. I'm healthy and had no reason to fear cancer. I'll be getting my second post cancer colonoscopy next month. The prep doesn't bother me a bit.
Almost all colon cancer starts with polyps. By getting rid of the polyps you get rid of the future cancer. 1 in 19 get colon cancer in their life. That's a lot. If you wait till you have symptoms the chances of survival is low, don't wait.

Yep. Found my TV remote. No wonder the channel changed every time I farted! Seriously though, the stories are worse than the actual procedure. Prep isn't much fun, but it doesn't take long.

Have had several procedures. Was very fortunate with the timing on the first one as the Doc found a pre-cancerous polyp. Occasionally in recovery, there may be some discomfort due to bloating from them dilating the colon. Will just need to use your best farting technique for relief. A couple of times, I've had an endoscopy done as well so I always request they do that first if they're going to use the same instrument. Don't want to wake up with a bitter taste.

You'll be happy the prep is over by the time the actual colonoscopy rolls around. You will remember the sound of that tiny balloon blowing up the rest of your life, and not fondly.

Yes, I'm scheduled to have my ninth on 11/22. The prep process has gotten much better/easier since my first one in 2006 when I was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. The procedure itself is not bad at all. Hope yours guess well.
