Give Garrett Riley a actual chance.

Year one when asked why this Clemson offense doesn’t look like TCUs. His response is they do a lot of the same things but the personnel is different. That says everything there is to know right there. In other words Riley is trying to work with the mess he’s left with. So what do you do about it?
1. Dabo truly needs to give Riley the keys to this offense. Let Riley fix it his way not Dabos way. Dabo hired Riley as OC to improve the offense well then Let Riley fix it.
2. Let Riley recruit his players and also ###### up some players from the portal. This could be a fast fix if Riley is granted permission to use the portal. Riley can fix the OL and WR woes quickly with the portal.
3. Coaching if Riley feels like changes are needed on the offensive side of the ball. Then let Riley make those coaching changes to fit his offense. Even if that means getting rid of Dabos friends.
4. Play calling i don’t know how much if any Dabo is involved in play calling. But Riley needs to call 100% of the plays. Dabo doesn’t need to have any influence in calling plays. Let Riley run his offense.
Also on QB the need for a QB this coming recruiting cycle is crucial. One little note if they do go to the portal for a QB it needs to be one that has a chance to compete with Cade and possibly take the job. I like Cade but he needs competition at that position.

Clean out the position coaches and let Riley go out and find and hire some proven ones with Power 5 experience.

Shocked he wasn’t allowed to bring his own position people. Not sure that’s all of it but can’t be helping.

What has Riley done? We average 19 pts a game.

I'm not sure his brother or Sarkisian could do much better with our OL and lack of foot speed in combination with the position coaches he inherited. I don't see him as the problem. He was successful at more than one stop before he arrived in Clemson. The issues in the Spring game were glaring. Nobody wanted to acknowledge the problems. The struggles are no surprise to me although I was hoping for some sort of miracle.

Our receivers got no separation all game. The left side of the O line was porous and gave little confidence they could open holes or pass protect.

Dabo wouldn’t be wearing a headset and steady looking at the Waffle House menu covering his face and making calls. Riley isn’t doing that because Riley hasn’t been making calls.

But why? Just doesn’t make sense. Why hire him and not let him do his job? It’s basically malfeasance.

We’re all asking the same question. Only Dabo knows for sure but I think he chose to scapegoat Streeter last year and bring in a new name while hoping one more year of the Dabo way would work. It hasn’t, the Dabo way needs to go back to when he hired Morris and BV and let those guys do their thing. Since then it’s gotten progressively worse and short of divine intervention will continue on that trajectory

I think Dabo didn’t vet Riley and it was really Dykes running the playcalling.

Ha! I hadn’t gone there yet, re: malfeasance but it’s a legitimate take at this point. TU, we could use more of this contemplative criticism over just calling everyone coot. Go Tigers!
