I wished I was a betting man and saw Auburn was favored. But I'm not and I didn't see it.

I am just saying, neither roster is set, and not all the suspensions have yet to be handed out on the Plains. We have an entire summer to let these things shake out and criminal acts to be committed.

And yet, somehow they're usually very accurate.
I loved the underdog role once upon a time. But we're an elite team. Time to embrace this and live up to it.

in Columbia, SC?
I'm talking about real SEC teams.
It was in Athens way back in 1986 ... 30 years ago!! ... and even that was a super rare phenomenon.
Overall our road record vs the SEC is abysmal.
Winning a game at Auburn would have huge historical significance!

much if we played a regular slate of SEC road games the past 20-30 years?
If so, chalk me up as a skeptic ...
I still maintain that when we get the win at Auburn this fall, it will be a win of great historic significance.
Hopefully the beginning of a new era in which we compete evenly with SEC teams on a regular basis.

30 years, it takes on historical significance.
Sort of like if our basketball team would finally go up to Chapel Hill and beat a really lousy Tar Heel team. Regardless of how bad the UNC team might be, it would be of huge historical importance.
That much said, we certainly should beat Auburn based on where the two teams are at present.
But, we still have to go down there and do it.

after this game. With the way you're disregarding a road game against a team that was in the national champ game twice recently, you could be in for an embarrassment.
Some of you guys are just a bit too cocky.
I'll bet the coaches and players aren't taking Auburn as lightly as some fans.

at Auburn in your lifetime nor in mine. The last time was 1950.
When we beat them down there in 2016, it will mark an important change in an historically one-sided rivalry that goes all the way back to the very beginning of our Clemson football program.
We're 13-34-2 against Auburn with only four of those wins coming on Auburn's home field.
When we do win at Auburn for the fist time in 66 years (and I fully expect that we will win the game) it will be historical.
HTH too.

Exactly the same one you were responding to. Now that I'm seeing your response to my post that wasn't meant for you, I don't believe it's "historically significant" for us to beat them this year. For the coots, yes it would be because it would be the FIRST TIME EVER for them beating Awbum. Nobody takes a pictures of a babies second, much less fourteenth step. Yes, I expect to and would be shocked if we don't beat them down this year, especially with Steele running their D. I still feel it'd be history making for the coots to beat them (I guess because it actually would be a 1st in their history). I just dont see us beating Auburn as a big deal, unless they were the defending national champions like in 2012(?). Should we somehow lose (knock wood) then absolutely it becomes significant to our season, but not historically IMO.
You have your opinion, I have mine. Either way, my original response wasn't intended for you. Appreciate the discussion, but I think you took somethings I was saying to someone else personally, when it wasn't directed twoards you.
So yes, this actually did help me figure out why your post seemed a bit hostile twoard me. We're good bud....no harm no foul.

After a while as threads get longer and longer, it begins to be hard to distinguish who is responding to whom. Didn't mean to come off as hostile. You're right ... all opinions are just that.

I don't know why I was thinking that Clemson beating #8 LSU was the beggining. Maybe bc of the #5 UGA win the next year? I don't even know. I just sound silly now.

I understand what you're saying, but we're talking about SEC wins "on the road", on the opponents home field. We just haven't done a lot of that in the past or lately. Beating them at home, or on a neutral field is great, but it's not the same as going into their place and coming out on top.

I gotcha. Hard to win anywhere on the road. Last year's #2 Clemson only beat UofL by 3, and we haven't beaten GT in over a decade on the road. FSU once in the past 15-20 years.
Argument has little to do with the SEC - moreso to do with playing quality foes at their place, imo.
AU on the road will easily be in our top 4 toughest games of the year, though. I'm in 100% agreement with you on that assertion. @GT, FSU and UofL being the other 3.
But, again, you're right. Clemson cannot under any circumstances take Auburn lightly or underestimate the importance that winning this game has on the success of our 2016 season.

Game sure will be historical. A better question however would be when has Clemson come off of a National Championship Game with virtually its entire offense returning featrung the best QB in college football? Number 4 gets off to a huge start in our quest for a Natty. Tigers win bifg and name the score. 45-10.

We would have won that game handily if it wasn't for that, and the ### ACC refs did not even call it. It ruined Kyle's fb career and our season and they went on to win NCAA championship behind the expensive Cam!
