Ditch Witches...GITT

We had a driveway extension put in, and I need to backfill around the new slab. The trough around the back side is actually a high erosion area due to the slop of the backyard heading out that way. There's also a downspout off camera to the left, so my thought was to try to use the trench as a drainage path. And, hard to see, but the ground is about level with the slab's height, so this would fill in nicely with gravel if that's the route I take. But the question is if I fill this in with pea gravel, will the water still eventually erode under the pad?

It's not very big across; probably about 4" and even less in some spots where the fence posts are. So not enough to dig out a drainage ditch for an actual drain system.

Thots?

Put edging in to protect under the slab, something simple like the hammer in panels. You can drive them down to even or just below the surface of the driveway to be almost invisible and not a trip hazard

Put big gravel under pea gravel or one big frog strangler and you’ll lose all your rocks (trust me this is a life lesson)

And not least of all because "pound-in edging" has me at full treadstone.

They seem to be better long term solutions both residential and commercial. Over land flow is easier to monitor and maintain.

Given your picture, your house’s foundation will be undermined and the structure will collapse in 48 to 60 months. So sell now!

get one of those downspout extensions to get it to the other side of the slab***
