Dinner recommendations in Clemson

Aug 13, 2012, 10:21 PM

Going to be there for a couple of days with some colleagues. It has been a long time since I have been in Clemson to eat (usually meals are consumed at a tailgate on gameday). Blue Heron's menu looks great. Any comments there or any other recommendations?

Blue Heron is hit and miss

Aug 13, 2012, 10:23 PM

It depends on the chefs mood that night.

I've never had a fail there.***

The answer is dependent on how much Clemson you

Aug 13, 2012, 10:35 PM

want to show them...

To show them Clemson at the student level, it's TTT's, TD's, 356 does sushi when not in bar mode, there's BGR, Spill the Beans for coffee/ ice cream, and a couple other places. Rugged, but good food.

To show them a decent time, Blue Heron is classy and hit-or-miss, Smokin' Pig down 76 headed towards Anderson (probably the best bbq you'll find, as long as you are there Thurs-Sat)...

For a good sit down, there's pixie and bill's (i've never been, but have heard good things), and there's Calhoun Corners, probably the most upscale in the immediate area.

Again, it's dependent on what side of Clemson you want to show, but there's a place for just about every side.

Thanks....looking for the nicer side of things...

glad to hear good things about the Smokin' Pig. I have passed there many times and wanted to stop and check it out. Will definitely have to make a lunch time visit there soon.

Calhoun Corners, imo.

I like P&B's but CC is a more upscale place and the menu at both is very good.

P&Bs to cook some Calhoun Corner's dishes for us one time when CCs was booked solid. They are very accomodating and great people.

Also, this was probably 7 years ago or more.

Both P&B and CC are very good.

Brioso is one of my current favorites in Clemson. Not exactly 'upscale' but very good food.

The fact that you throw you support behind those rare authors who write books in the Punting genre is commendable.

If you don't mind driving out to Seneca, the Lighthouse restaurant is pretty good and a fairly nice restaurant.

You wouldn't eat anywhere if you knew what I know. I prefer ignorance and good food to awareness and abstinence.

In my opinion, it has some of the best food in the area plus live music on certain nights. They have outdoor dining as well as a large deck.
