Matt 26:
"39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt."
I understand the question and appreciate why it would be asked. Jesus was facing the cross. In that chapter of Matthew He spoke these words to His disciples
"2 Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified."
The woman with the alabaster box came to Him and poured the content upon His head. That was an anointing for His burial. The disciples called it a waste. This is probably the most fantastic thing I will have learned from your question and I want to thank you for leading me to it and I have to share this truth with you. The answer you seek will be obvious.
The disciples were Hebrews who believed that Jesus was the Messiah. After 400 years of silence from God the Jewish people had lost their way. The priest who taught them were selected by Herod, the message of a suffering Messiah had been lost in favor of highlighting the conquering Messiah to appease the people for Herod and enrich the priest who attended the Temple and Synagogues.
We know nothing about the woman with the alabaster box. We don't know if she may have represented the Jews who knew a suffering Messiah would die and pay their sin debt or if she was just led of God to give all she had in obedience to God.
What we know is that while she believed she was obeying the disciples believe she'd wasted the 'precious ointment, within the box. We ought to talk about that someday.
Matthew 26:
"10 When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.
11 For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.
12 For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial."
Your question is answered, He knew He was going to be crucified and He knew He was going to die and He asked God to let it pass Him by.

Stories like that make me wish I had been there to see them. The confrontation in the wilderness was, imo, more horrific than we can imagine. If he didnt know he was a dead man walking going into it, he knew it coming out. Would like to have seen it, but then again maybe not.
"For we do not have a High Priest who cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin." True as that is, it scratches the surface, imo.
"Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage."

James 1:13
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

It seems like if Jesus was God in the flesh and had the ability to sin and chose to not, then that would even make a stronger argument that he was God in the flesh. God cannot be tempted... even when he had the opportunity.

There’s no reason to believe he was sinless, and the only way he could have been is if he had supernatural power which is cheating in my book.
I wouldn’t trust a man anyway who didn’t lust over a nice set of bewbs.

I don’t think James believed Jesus was god.
