Congrats to Billy Napier former Clemson Coach

I wish Billy the best at Florida. He seems to be a great guy, and a great coach. He has obviously learned from his past mistakes when he was here.
As i was doing some research on Billy, I came across this 2011 article by Colby Lanham on why the hiring of Chad Morris was the best thing for Clemson with Billy's firing. I found it quite interesting and still very relevant.
"A key element of this (Chad Morris) offense will be the reliance of tempo in the offense. With Rob Spence and Billy Napier, tempo didn't appear to be an element in the offense at all.
Tempo is one of the most important elements in a game; tempo can help to disguise tendencies, and catch defenses off guard; tempo is one of the prime reasons offenses like Oregon are among the best in the nation.
Tempo was one of Napier's biggest weaknesses as an offensive coordinator. The system he ran was slower and easy to read. There was no kind of quick snap to catch a defense off guard, nor any kind of a productive two minute offense. There was also lack of true adjustment and identity to the offense of any kind.
Now, however, Morris is clearly setting the identity for the Clemson offense.
Last but not least, Morris at least brings coaching ability from the standpoint of offenses and running them. Dabo's first mistake (and this is a learning process for him too) was not hiring an experienced offensive coordinator after his interim tag was removed and he assumed full responsibilities as the heads coach."
I see too many parallels in what is happening today within our offense.
I wonder if Dabo will step up again and do what is best for the team?

Really would like to hear the scoop on whether the whole Napier punched Dabo thing is true. If it is, then It kind of gives credence to the whole “Dabo won’t let the off. coordinator do his job” . Brent V. doesn’t seem the kind to let someone meddle in his play calls, so I do wonder if Tony E. Is getting hung out to dry, with his play calling getting overridden?

In 2009, Bleacher did report "There are reports of Dabo changing up to 25 of Napier's calls per game. The reports go even so far as to claim that Napier is often unaware that Dabo is even changing the call.
I wonder what the number is today?

In all fairness, Billy Napier probably considers himself

more of a former Alabama coach than a former Clemson coach. He has gone on record as saying he learned more in the one year he was an offensive analyst for Saban at Alabama than he did any other single year as a coach.

Napier is wasting his time at Florida. That place is toxic.

I’m sure he’ll get plenty of money, but legendary coaches are not remembered for their checkbook. A school like UF you start off with one foot on a banana peel.

Gators really wanted a good recruiter as HC after Mullen didn't like recruiting. They got a really good one when you look at the classes that Napier help build at Clemson and Alabama. Also for their level at Louisiana. He is a solid coach that can get the best from his players.

I am not a fan of tempo. Tempo wears out your defense as bad as it wears out the opposing offenses. It is not a coincidence that temp teams give up huge amounts of points. I could be wrong, but I think abandoning Tempo was more due to Venables than anyone else. Your top D coordinators are not going to a team that runs tempo. One thing ole Bal Sack Spurrier was right about. He said it's not how many offensive plays you have, it's how many more offensive plays you have than your opponent had.
