Changes at least monthly for me

Back BC I went 14 months without drinking the same beer twice
If I had to pick a readily available go to, it would come down to probably either Torpedo and/or Negra Modelo

be Guinness. It may not be my abs favorite, but it's certainly something I wouldn't tire of drinking over and over again. Plus, it's good at room temp -- so extra utility above other beer. And vitamins!

But trust me, before health issues kicked in, I put in my time.
My favorite beer of all time is Chimay Blue. It's really a Strong Belgian Ale, so I don't know if that qualifies as "beer". Definitely not a tailgate or beach beer, rather to be savored like a good wine. More of a special ocassion drink for me.
As far as traditional beer goes, it depends on the season and the ocassion. The only thing off limits for me would be all "light" beers, which have zero tase except a faint hint of something very unpleasant. Summertime my favorite is/was a good pilsner like Highland Pilsner. Fall I usually stocked up on Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest (they do a different version every year, always excellent). When weather turned cold, if I wasn't watching football and pounding Pilsners, I liked to sit at the bar or by the fire with a pint of Guinness.
Never really cared for all of the heavily hopped IPAs that seem to rule the beer world now.
Good times.

I wish I had your restraint Smiling Tiger®
I have never gained a taste for most Belgian style beers as they tend to use a yeast that I don't care for. Orval is an exception but hard to find and $$.
Like you I don't care for light beers, most of which are just carbonated water with a shot of alcohol tossed in.
I am on the porch right now drinking your Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest.
I am a Guinness fan but only the Extra Stout bottle version, not the draft versions in the cans or on tap.
You nailed it here: "Never really cared for all of the heavily hopped IPAs that seem to rule the beer world now." Some how idiots gained steam and a contest began to see who could make the most undrinkable IPA.

As to mass produced beers you can find most places, I prefer a German style Pilsner. I think the best is this one (which is also the first one ever made in this style):
To that end the best Pilsner made in the USA might be 'St. Pauli Girl' or a less well known one --> 'Mama's Little Yella Pils'.

gimme something in a longneck glass bottle. In the store, I'll opt for whatever as long as it's in a longneck bottle. I just don't much care to drink out of cans, glasses, or mugs. You can have the fruity and flavored stuff too, just cold beer please.
