Obama and Biden on ISIS

Feb 4, 2015, 7:21 AM

They are talking on this problem. If we cry wolf on this, it will further embolden this enemy and similar evil groups. Let's hope now that a serious mission is executed and that ISIS ceases to exist.

Falsehood flies, and truth comes limping after it, so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late; the jest is over, and the tale hath had its effect: like a man, who hath thought of a good repartee when the discourse is changed, or the company parted; or like a physician, who hath found out an infallible medicine, after the patient is dead.

Kinda like letting Europe handle Hitler. I'm sure that would have turned out well for us. The problem with our getting involved in "wars" is that we no longer get involved to completely destroy the enemy, which we have the resources to accomplish, but the pussi libs. want to fight a PC war against an enemy that is anything but PC. Can't we all just get along?

If the CIC had sent troops in, these yahoos (= pseudo war hawks) would be on his case about that. I wonder how many would want sons, daughters or close relatives involved? In his defense, he does have Arab countries involved in the air war. Go Tigers and go USA.

I hope to heil(sp) that one of our servicemen or women do not get captured. If they were burned to death, I would apply to go back into the service in some capacity and try to avenge whoever the victim was.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's a reasonable point....

Feb 5, 2015, 6:42 PM [ in reply to No ground forces, to say the least. ]

at some point, we may need to step up assistance to those fighting Boko Haram too.

Some differences that make ISIS/ISIL more of an issue IMHO:
- BH is largely restricted to Nigeria (although I think they have branched out slightly in Cameroon?) / ISIS is across multiple countries and the terrorism has taken on a more international bent.

- ISIS is estimated to be 5-6 times larger in terms of # of fighters, is much more organized, is better funded, has actual military control over its "territory", and is taking on the form of a "state".

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

From what I've read, Boko Haram is worse.

Feb 5, 2015, 7:15 PM

So yes, at some point I think we should get more involved there. The news is saying they control an area as large as Belgium. That seems at least as significant, if not moreso, than whether their reach spans an international border. The good news about an international gang like ISIS is that there are several nations already interested in deleting them.

Re: I meant the evil acts being carried out....

Feb 6, 2015, 11:22 AM

Boko Haram is also an international threat. In additional occupying a territory in Nigeria the size of a small country, Boko Harm is in Niger and Chad, and attacked a military base in Cameroon just last month. They have massacred thousands. They kidnapped and enslaved hundreds of schoolgirls. The very name "Boko Haram" means "Western education is forbidden." And they are linked to ISIS.

Dozens of nations are at war with ISIS, yet far less is being done about Boko Haram. Why?

This is a problem within the Muslim religion. I don't care

Feb 5, 2015, 10:33 AM

what Obama and the libs say. It is just a fact. I am in agreement that it must be resolved among Muslims. Because of ISIS's tactics and strategy to change the Muslim religion, the resolution will be violent and bloody.

To say we must stand aside would be folly. If we refuse to influence the outcome of this, to lend support to the sane Muslims, to help in whatever capacity we can, we deserve what we get.
