Cordarelle Patterson over Nuk?
Mar 31, 2013, 2:23 PM
|
|
I get that Patterson is big and very fast, but come on! The guy can't run routes to save his life. Nuk is a more complete WR.

That's very true.

I guess my point is that Nuk is already big and fast and can run routes. He's more ready to go and should, therefore, be in the top 5. But hey, how accurate are these top-5 lists anyway?

consistently produce on the field where and when it counts, regardless of their measurables, while players with fantastic measurables fail or struggle every year.
It would be very convenient for analysts and even coaches to be able to look at a spreadsheet and say who the best players are going to be, but if they look at a WR, for example, and they are consistently getting open and making catches on all types of routes against very good competition, it would seem that would carry much more weight.

the end of your college career then you won't learn how to in the NFL. Perfect example, Troy Williamson. All the speed in the world but ran terrible routes

Let's be sure to review this after NUK wins Offensive ROY and mockingly laugh at Kiper!

Even the coaches and GM's are left scratching their heads after their first round picks don't pan out. None the less, I will put more stock in their opinions than Kipers. He gets all his info second hand peeping on their conversations at the combines and Pro Days.
Lastly, best analysis I have heard is that he is the most pro ready receover in the class, (thanks coach Scott), but does not have the highest ceiling in the opinion of most. That is not to say that his work ethic and drive will not make him a pro-bowler one day, he is just a touch slower and shorter than a couple of the other guys in this class. Jerry Rice was not the most athletic receiver either, bu his production between the whistles was all that mattered in the end.

If Kiper was to pick all the players for any super bowl winning team. They would NEVER win another Super Bowl!!!

Sorry but there is no way he should've stayed for his senior season. The truth is they are obsessed with Watkins to the point of it being a detriment. If Hopkins came back and Sammy stays healthy he wouldn't get the ball thrown his way enough to make an near the impact he did this season. The entire game plan in the Chick-Fil-A bowl was going to be centered around Sammy. When he got hurt it gave Nuk a chance to shine on a grand stage. I don't think he would get that chance this season if he stayed.

Mel Kiper is an ### hat. How is it that every other team has him valued as a late 1st round pick and Kiper won't put him in his top 5? He will eat his words when Nuk blows up in the NFL.

Mel Kiper Jr., the same guy who said "Mike Williams is the best player in the 2005 Draft, I'll see you at his Hall of Fame induction."
That same draft produced Alex Smith, DeMarcus Ware, Aaron Rogers, Roddy, White, Heath Miller, Nick Collins, Logan Mankins, Frank Gore, Vincent Jackson, Justin Tuck and Josh Cribbs. How did that work out Mel? The guy isn't even in the league anymore.

everyone wants to say Nuk is too slow, but then they put up Tavon Austin who is all off 5'8" and you never hear about that.

I like Nuk I think he is going to be an excellent NFL player
Mar 31, 2013, 9:59 PM

He is an excellent athlete, but he lacks a stand out physical skill. He has average size and average speed (in terms of NFL WR, not real people). He will get drafted, and he will do well, but he doesn't grade out as a game breaker. Best case, he is the next Anquan Boldin.

If he's right then that puts him in the 4th or 5th round?

Maybe the Panthers could pick him up late then. Just as long as the panthers get him. They need some gamers on offense other than Steve Smith.
