New puppy will not stop eating his poop

How do I resolve this? I don't want every backyard potty break to be on a leash, and sometimes he disappears behind a bush to do the deuce.

Only been home with us for 2 weeks. I've been shooting him with a water gun when I catch him. Hard to see at midnight when he runs deep into yard though.

1 or 2 times and that'll kill it.
flick ear, roll up magazine / paper and pop ear softly, flick butt....all those worked for me. now I just say i'm bout to spank him for being stupid and he tightens right the #### up.

And I have a coupla sure-fire (there's another phrase you don't hear anymore) way to fix this but won't share due to the prevailing sentiment regarding dogs here on DogNet.com.

can bust his ###. I got a training collar for my dogs. Beep first, then vibrate, then a little shock. Only had to use the shock once on either dog. Have it turned super low and have tested it on my hand. Now beep gets them back in line. Unless the husky sees a deer. Then you might have to vibrate again. So far no need to shock either more than once.

Eating good fresh poop?
Get some hot sauce or something bitter and spray a mound or two, make it distasteful somehow?

You just gotta be present for every poop and clean em up right away and give him a giant NO when he starts to go for it.
