My thoughts of the season moving forward

Nov 6, 2022, 2:11 PM

As said last night, last night was just a bad night for Clemson football - from gameplan, execution, & effort. After sleeping on things, my thoughts

*the coaches & players need to focus on cutting down the mistakes. 21 of the 35 points were the result of 2 turnovers & special teams blunder. ND did what Syracuse couldn't do & made Clemson pay for making those mistakes.

*if there are any changes in the staff, they're gonna have to wait til after the season. That said, the coaching staff rightfully deserve to be under the gun & there needs to be some evaluation these remaining games.

*the players need to respond to adversity. It's no doubt that we're gonna get everyone's best shot the rest of the way, especially after getting slugged in the mouth last night. Our guys need to be prepared for that - hopefully that punch was a wake up call & not the 1 that causes them to lose their legs.

*A key fact for the team & fans - there's plenty left to play for. Our guys just need to focus on each remaining game & play their best ball each game & not worry about national-level issues. But there's still plenty left to play for. This team has already secured a spot in the ACCCG - they can still win the ACC championship and make a NY6 game. The state championship, along w/ breaking the record for wins against our rivals in Columbia, is still in play. Winning out also means having only 1 loss going into the postseason. & w/ some help elsewhere in the country, the CFP might not be completely off the table.

Our players & coaches just need to focus on themselves & trying to play the best football they can these remaining games. As for fans, the question now becomes - are we gonna throw in the towel & give up on our guys, or are we gonna rally around our guys & see the journey through with them?

GO TIGERS! BEAT LOUISVILLE!

I just love "moral victory" type of speeches, you know win one for the Gipper.
It is just my opinion of course that it starts with the Head Coach and the first decision he needs to make starts at QB. He has to go with Cade and if DJ doesn't like it ,there is always the portal.
Secondly he needs to direct his attention to his coordinators and instruct them they need to devise better game plans for both offense and defense or tell them to plan on looking elsewhere next year.
Players do need to respond and he should pull the first player who makes a boneheaded play that cost them even a first down.
Next on the agenda is strength and conditioning. Notre Dame pushed us around all night long on both sides of the ball, Imagine what UGA, Tennessee, Alabama, OSU, Michigan ,heck even LSU would do to our lines. There was no excuse for the way we were basically manhandled by the Irish.
Finally, there are the fans who should have no misgivings that unless Rome falls tomorrow we are not going to the CFP's this year.
Louisville is up next. No other game matters.
