FALSE

1. Mormons are Christians. 2. ALL religions start as cults.

Aug 31, 2012, 3:43 AM

Anyone that doubts that doesn't know the definition of a cult. Nor do they know the history of Christianity.

Mormons are not Christian...

Aug 31, 2012, 8:09 AM

As I recall, Christianitry started in Jerusalem, not in the old west of the United States of America.

As I recall, Christianity defines God's existence and personality as outlined through the OT and NT as given to the world through the time, not by "new" golden tablets found in an unknown language in the old west of the United States of America.

Protestants are not Catholics, and Mormons are not Christians.

Mormons are welcome to disagree with it. That doesn't make them right.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You're absolutely right.

Aug 31, 2012, 8:17 AM [ in reply to Mormons are not Christian... ]

The golden tablet thing is ridiculous.

What makes more sense is that a war god of the Canaanite pantheon turned out to be real, and chose a nomadic tribe of desert wanderers as his chosen people to eventually carry out his message of love:

That he would send a zombie-carpenter to die, in order to erase a blood curse because a dirt man ate a forbidden apple given to him by a rib-woman at the behest of a talking snake.

That clearly has a much more developed sense of verisimilitude.

Although I think John Smith did his thing in New England,

Aug 31, 2012, 8:19 AM [ in reply to Mormons are not Christian... ]

and they are only in the west because they got kicked out of New England, you are correct.

Mormans are not (by the gospel that is accepted in any denomination of Christianity not Morman) Christians. And to this Mormans would agree as according to them, any denomination of Christianity that is not Morman is not actually Christian.

So, to wrap up: Mormans think only they are going to "heaven". Everyone but Mormans, thinks they got it wrong and are NOT saved and thus not going to heaven.

Religion is a persons personal choice and unless it is violent, it doesn't need to be degraded here!

No my friend;all Ancient History is based on the Torah and The Greek manuscripts of the New Testament that give names, dates, and times of people places and things or events that happened. The Mormon religion cant verify anything other than Joseph Smith really lived. The Bible however my friend 66 books 40 authors offer historical facts verifiable that goes back 10,000 years.Mormonism however 1800s.Wisdom is better than intelligence but together which is a rare commodity goes farther.

What planet do you live on? There are few facts in the Bible

Aug 31, 2012, 4:07 AM [ in reply to Re: My son asked; whose BYU?I told him its a religious school: ]

that can or have been confirmed or verified as FACT. Second, you are referring to the OLD Testament, not the New Testament. The OLD is rooted in Judaism and is a history book, the NEW is God's new contract/covenant with man via Jesus/The Messiah. Third, the oldest know written language is about 5,000 years old with the oldest known hieroglyphs being about 6,000 yeas old and found on pottery. Fourth, the oldest parts of the Torah are estimated to be no older than 600 BC, making it under 3,000 years old.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The oldest known language does not

Aug 31, 2012, 8:16 AM

mean there was no other before it.

How it the world do you think there can be communities built, with structure and carvings, without a written language?

the son needs to ask how to spell "who's" - as in "who is" before he tackles the big questions. And then you can teach him how NOT to spell it.

JK - but here's how I look at the different religions:

A man dies and goes to heaven. When he enters heaven, he sees numerous rooms. He asks St. Peter, why do you have so many rooms? St. Peter answers "Each room is for each of the different religions". Then the man notices a room with a curtain that is closed. He asks "Why does that room have a curtain"? St. Peter responds "Oh - that room is for the Baptists. They think they're the only ones here".

You can substitute your religion for Baptists.
