I was never one to criticize strength and conditioning

Apr 20, 2012, 5:00 PM

But then I watched the South Carolina work out vid. The difference is shocking.

It doesn't take a video to realize their S/C program is light years ahead of ours. All you need to do is look at their players and then look at ours. Or just pop in the game film from the past 3 years...

themselves in terms of who has been the stronger, more physical of the two teams in recent years.

So did their S&C change dramatically over the last 5 years..

because Batson has been with us a while, and we were owning them as much as ever with Batson on board.

Good point. Dabo was Head Coach when we lost the past 3. Dabo was NOT the Head Coach when we owned the coots.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

One thing is very obvious to me, is that Dabo downplays

Apr 20, 2012, 6:50 PM

the importance of the rivalry. And he makes it very obvious that he thinks the fans should think more like him about it.

I have no idea why the coots are killing us lately, but I am not happy with Dabo's downplaying.

He downplays the game because it really doesn't matter. Sure, we want to win the game, but playing against SCAR doesn't affect us at all if we lose to them.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What do you mean us? If affects me a whole lot.***

You know that rivalry is a huge part od college football. You are completely blind if you think that the coot game doesn't matter. Dumbest thing posted on here in a long time.

They are not the most important game of the year. Tiger fans need to stop putting USuck on a pedastool. I'm very glad Dabo is keeping the players focused. The most important game is the game coming up and that is Auburn.

Clemson fans understand that. You can trick yourself into thinking it doesn't matter, but it's bull****.

Hate to say it, but it's like comparing men and boys. If I were a Carolina fan(which I'm not), I think I'd be on this thread defending the hell out of Clemson's current S&C program, hoping to keep it place as it is.

Re: I was never one to criticize strength and conditioning

I completely agree. The biggest difference I can see is with our defensive backs and linebackers. Just by watching different teams, our db's and linebackers look so much smaller and less physically appealing.

MD's current S&C guy was in his first season last year. Their previous director (Dwight Galt), who is very highly regarded and gave us fits throughout his tenure, moved on to Vandy and paid immediate dividends for their program. There are lots of Galt / Maryland vids out there, and they are impressive. Not sure if their current guy is a Galt guy or came from outside, but they certainly had problems outside of S&C (atmosphere of mutiny) that contributed to their general suckiness.

Our defense has sucked for the past 3 years. Pretty simple. Also, USuC plays a cupcake the week before us ususally. I think most other SEC teams play D2 teams before their rivals. I think a lot of their players value the state rivalry a little more than ours too.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My first S&C post...

Apr 21, 2012, 9:09 AM

I've not made comment on this issue prior to now b/c I wasn't sure if it was just a convenient excuse for us to hide behind. I've also seen that our coaches (many of which have coached in the S-E-C) don't seem to be concerned. I SHOULD defer to their judgement on the issue. HOWEVER, seeing this video makes me sick. These guys show the fire that we should have. It seems they are going after it on every single lift, agility, and exercise.

Here's hoping that I'm wrong but I don't think that our S&C video shows that we have that same fire. Only time will tell.

SPOT THE BALL!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

a 3-5 minute clip isn't going to show you how hard a player

Our strength and conditioning program was one of the major reasons we were able to win the National Championship in 1981. It was light years ahead of our competitors...as acknowledged by their coaches. We need to get back to where we were in this area.
