agreed, and he will win his fair share of recruiting battles, but I see that hurting Tennessee and the coots a lot more, being that we have so much of a presence in Florida and now nationally.

Mack is 68. How many good years does he have left? Has he designated a successor?

earlier.
Mack named Muschamp HCIW & Tejas, I imagine he'll do similar at UNC?
He seems reborn though, being back on the sidelines. Things could change quickly though.
Good on him, always liked Mack, he was dang good to Dabo.

I'm very familiar with the Muschamp situation at UT. That was 12 years ago and Mack admitted at the time he had no clue when he would be ready to leave.
My thought is he actually wants a smooth transition at UNC to someone he trusts in 2-3 years. I doubt very much a public declaration will be made.

I'm shocked you're aware of the Muschamp situation...

it was back page only, very hush hush.
Just table dressing, and agreeing with you he'd likely name a successor.
I'd imagine, public or not, it was part of UNC & Mack's plan when he took the job. Makes good sense.
Completely agree about smooth, bad if it goes the way of Beamer or Bowden.

The Muschamp thing back in the day was widely known and debated (at least here in Texas). They doubled his salary to keep him.
The whole thing ended up exploding on the faces of Mack and UT. It was a joy to watch.
Muschamp made out pretty well though.

about college football - I was having some fun.
It was about the same time Jimbo Fisher was being named HCIW at FSU, and given that weird contract that he'd be paid X, if Bowden didn't leave by a named date. It was uncomfortable as that date approached.
Anyway, it'll be interesting to see it unfold at UNC. I'm actually pulling for Mack, save one potential match up.
Have a good day, MoCity. Be well.

The heels brought him in to re-establish their program with his recruiting skills and it will work. I’m sure they are looking for a younger guy to replace him once the program is up and going full steam. This will help our Tigers because, and many will not agree, the ACC is weak football wise and that hurts our team. FSU and the Tarheels will only benefit the Tigers as they refuse to give up the games with the weak sisters.

I’m glad that Mack has UNC’s recruiting rolling. I would really love to witness a competitive ACCCG. And I would love to see a better conference. Death Valley is so much more electric when we are playing ranked teams. UNC, Miami, and Virginia Tech are a good trio for the Coastal. Clemson, FSU, and Louisville are a good trio for the Atlantic. I hope to see the day where all 6 of those teams are ranked in the top 25.
