Gamecocks’ success leads to identity crisis for school

poor chickens worried about being confused with Carolina and USC...I cut and pasted a section that I thought humorous
Roth, the former pitcher, said anything is better than how TV networks now abbreviate the school’s name to avoid any USC/Carolina confusion. ESPN, for example, abbreviates South Carolina’s name as “SCAR.”
“When I see SCAR, I think of ‘The Lion King,’?” Roth said, referring to the name of the villain in the Disney animated movie.
“We’ve been pretty successful in sports lately,” he said. “Maybe, we’ll get better than the other USC, and then we’ll be seen as the real USC.”

USC," which ticked off the folks out west. Then again, the guy had more audacity than most Carolina folks realized. They ought to just refer to it as "SC," which is what most people have always called it.

Why are they so worried about what or who others think they are. Their success will be so short lived that it want matter to what their called. Most Clemson Tiger fans just call them coots!!!

Over the years they have been a blemish or "scar" in whatever athletic conference they compete in. Over their 200+ years of being an institution, they have only recently (in the last 3 years) had success in any athletics.
They are a scar on the SEC conference.
