TDP was the new blood that was needed in the athletic department when he was hired. There was a lot of support for another candidate that was an old line Clemson guy. Many wanted him to be the AD because he was a Clemson man, had waited in the wings for years and it was his turn. Ultimately it was decided that we needed an athletic department professional, new blood, and TDP was hired. It was the right decision and one that brought Clemson into the modern age of athletic department management.
