It's called the "normalcy paradox":

kind of interesting reading a lot of you who are victims, but then again it's human nature, ever since the days of Noah.
"Because something has never happened, then it won't happen." Then when it happens, you're taken completely off guard. It's why a lot of those people stayed in New Orleans before Katrina.

As for this weather, it's looking like the real deal. But there's a lot of people who just refuse to believe this could be dangerous, in spite of clear warnings and forecasts.

On a more practical note, the ground is already soaked, now here comes a boat load more of rain. You're going to see flash flooding and trees coming down (yes, in Clemson, even though it's way above sea level), and it's not even going to be practical for football players to be out sloshing around in it b/c the drain systems won't keep up with this. If what I'm seeing in the forecasts is real.

My advice is if these buckets come down like they're saying, then stay away for your own safety. And yes, they should call the game and move it elsewhere.

I'm just an older guy with good judgment.

"Good judgment comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgment." I already learned the hard way two years ago in Greenville, almost got washed away in a flash flood where the clock restaurant used to be at Stone and 385 intersection.
