Gentlemen, this isn't addressed to all but some. If you were a recruit and read some of the comments posted by certain users, would you want to come to our fine institution? It's the class of Clemson University citizens that sets us apart. Theres no reason to spout negativity, despite the uncertainties of the recruiting process. We are better than that. I ask you to consider the reaction of the neutral people, namely the recruits and parents of recruits, who read Tnet. Perception is reality; a fan base spreading hurtful messages will be seen as a spiteful school, regardless of the truth. You catch more bees with honey than vinegar.

Robert, if that is you, we do want you. However, we are not beggers. We are Clemson. We beg no one to come here. Would we love to have you on the defensive line next year? Yes! However, it is nut cutting time. Get in and be all in, or kindly pick up your Ole Miss helmet and get Kamara one as well.
Sincerely,
Bravetiger

Bravetiger,
I am not Robert and I agree with what you are saying. Clemson does not, has never, and will never beg. The fact that you posted your reply the way you did proves to me that I am not concerned with the way you spoke your opinion. You were polite, stated your case, and made your point clearly. I am just referring to those who feel it necessary to belittle an 18 year olds massive decision in a harmful manner. There's many layers to this story and rushing to judgement is dangerous.

3 posts already and you're telling us what to say and not say. you gotta love this chit.
CLEMSON has plenty to love. If you love CLEMSON, then we want you. If you prefer to be elsewhere, then do NOT come to CLEMSON. Follow your heart and make good decisions and you'll be fine. So will CLEMSON.
Sorry man - but you're all wet IMO. People that don't honor commitments should expect consequences. If they are man enough to overcome those consequences, then they can wear ORANGE. Man up dude.

How do you know he isn't still a silent commit trying to get Carvell et. al. off his trail? YOU DON'T.

IMO - RN is just trying to appease his mom and visit other schools. And Dabo prefers that you not be committed to CLEMSON if you're visiting other schools. RN had no choice but to decommit IMO. He still might wear ORANGE someday even though I doubt it. No harm - no foul IMO. Maybe RN is just a kid that is trying to understand the word "commitment", and acted on impulse. Mont Adams is doing it the right way. RN could learn from that process. They will both play in the NFL someday, so it's not a big deal for either one. RN just had to learn the lesson the hard way.
I can still remember my 18 yo son acting on impulse and bought a gym membership. They wouldn't let him out of the contract since he was 18, and threatened to lock him up if he didn't pay. He had NO JOB. Yeah - stupid. But we honored the contract. Lesson learned. RN has to learn too. Just embarrassing IMO. He will get over it - and CLEMSON will too.

Unfortunately, many who post on tigernet and pose as fans really aren't Clemson fans at all. Anyone who hides behind a user name and is ashamed to admit their relationship with Clemson should not be considered a fan and their opinion is often times meaningless. Some of you ask RN to man up yet you hide your identity. It is sad that a young man such as RN may read some of these post and believe that a Clemson 'fan' is saying something bad about him when in fact, it very well could be, and probably is a fan of another school.

Who cares? He has made his decision and it doesn't involve Clemson. HE IS NOT COMING TO CLEMSON! What part of this don't you understand? I wish him no ill will in where ever he goes. I say good luck and let's go get another 4 or 5 star that WANTS to play for this fine institution. Reading the negative comments may make him realize what a big mistake he made by handling things the way he did.

All he did was decommitt so he could take other visits . . . he never said "I don't ever plan on attending Clemson." Until he conveys that sort of message we shouldn't trash him. I guarantee you Dabo and Jeff Scott haven't given up.

His mother will not allow him to come to Clemson. It clearly is not his decision. He will NOT be a tiger. His mom loves Alabama and she has never been there either. He will be playing for Saban mark it down.

Just reading the writing on the wall friend. Read the interview with his mom and then you tell me where you see him ending up. She doesn't have time for Clemson, but she loves Alabama and has never been there either. She can talk to Saban on Facebook but can't give Dabo the time of day. Sorry your feelings got hurt, but he ain't coming to tigertown.

To all of those who replied, you strengthend my argument. No one fell into the trap of bashing some poor kid (blessed or cursed) in his position. There's so much that unknown that making any judgment isn't smart. What happens, happens. In the mean time we are 9 - 1, and I'm #### proud to be a tiger. Go Clemson!

Robert, I appreciate your thoughtful response. I understand the pressure that you are under with your family and this cannot be easy. This is your life and no one can live it for you. I received a graduate degree from Clemson University and I found the two years there too be fantastic. You have stated that you loved Clemson and it appears that this is coming from your heart. I can tell you that the heart does not lie. You can fool the brain, but not your heart. There is a lot more to Clemson than just football, you will love the environment and receiving a quality education is priceless. Whatever you decide, I hope you are able to follow your heart verses any outside influences. I wish you the very best. This probably does not matter, but we are of the same race.

including an ajc sports writer, a coot, a rebel, or any Clemson hater.
They may have "tiger" in their handle and be anything but a TIGER.
Any recruit should base their decision on what they've witnessed firsthand. A fan message board should be given little consideration in the final decision.
I hope the young man decides to come to Clemson. It would be the greatest experience of his life.

The problem is that on the internet, everyone has an equal voice because there is no age or face associated with them. I suspect a majority of these distasteful messages are coming from our younger, immature members that don't realize the impact of what they say. As a reader, I often battle with comments made on here and say to myself, "was this comment written by a 12 year old, a really dumb adult, or a gamecock fan?" and I can never come up with an answer to that. It is unfortunate that the mass public can only use this medium as a way to gauge what the following of the school is like, because it is hardly representative of the truth.
