Romo contract is t going to impact the viability of CBS.
If you want to get into booth fumbles - I’d say Dennis Miller for MNF way back inter day. I like that they rolled the dice, and although he was very knowledgeable - his references were a bit too obscure for middle America.

For a terrible commentator, even if he was amazing, does anyone tune into or out of a game because of a commentator?

Beth Mowen. When she does Clemson games, I mute the tv and listen to Don.

I will change the channel if Pam Ward or Beth Mowins is doing PBP and it's not a Clemson game. If it is a Clemson game, I'll mute it.
On the other hand, Kevin Harlan is the best voice in the business and you can catch him on ESPN radio. You can mute the CBS announcers (Jim Nantz is equally horrible) and listen to The Man.

Don’t disagree but they spent 17 million a year on him, have you ever tuned into a game or not watched a game because of who is calling it?

I would say I watched a lot of Braves games back in the day to hear Skip Carey and Ernie Johnson entertain me when there was no hope the game would. Other than them no way.

Last week he said “who knew the Steelers had this two headed monster at RB”….. ummm everyone that watched a single game all year because that’s their game plan. If you are paid to do this you need to watch a little film.

He’s fine, my point was him as an investment…. He’s not Beth Mowans, I can listen to him but I don’t think the ROI is there

Maybe the Gameday guys are the reason folks tune-in. But as for game callers, I could have nothing -- no sound -- from the booth during a college or pro game -- and be just fine.
In alot of ways booth announcers are an anachronistic idea. One of those "we've always done it this way" things.

Are you kidding? Romo is EASILY the best in the game and has tremendous knowledge. He’s famously known for calling plays right before they happen. Really odd take. Always heard the opposite.

I mute him. It's not that he doesn't know the game. He does. It's just that it's football, not trig. As complicated as the self-serving coordinators and coaches and commentators have tried to make it sound/seem, it comes down to blocking, tackling, passing, catching and running.
