biggest disappointment in college football? A huge washout? Like a Ryan Leaf or Brian Bosworth level of overrated? At the very least, I'd be content with him being mediocre at best and Texas subsequently having an average season.
Or maybe I'm just jealous. Could go either way.

Millions of dollars in your account at age 18, coeds galore to choose from on a campus full of them, almost certain NFL future. That would be horrible.

There has maybe never been a college freshman with expectations as high as this kid's are. You're right - anything short of an undefeated season (barring an injury or something) will be almost unacceptable. But if there's any kid who can manage it, I'd think it would be a Manning. Archie did a pretty good job with his 3 boys. There's no reason to think his boys aren't doing an equally good job with their's, but with social media, online media, and NIL - it's a whole different world than when the Manning boys were in college. This will be an interesting one to watch.

I hope TX goes to the SEC West and becomes a powerhouse (someone needs to challenge Nicki) and I hope OK goes to the East to insure another coot loss every year . . . this would give us a TX vs A&M yearly “bad blood” battle and a TX vs OK crossover every year . . . fun matchups College Football doesn’t need to lose.
If Manning having a great college career helps rival Nicki’s boys, I’m All In!!!

A few counter opinions: 1. Most of what I've read indicates that East & West Divisions are going to have a massive shakeup in team make up. West Division has been considered way stronger than East Division for several years. The addition of either (or both) TX & OK to the West just continues the trend. Therefore, several strong West Division teams will float to East Division to make it stronger, and several East Division teams will move to West Division to make it more average--hopefully resulting in a more balanced East vs. West. Since both Texas & Oklahoma are strong teams, it just adds to the SEC consternation of how to incorporate the Western newbies. 2. That's if SEC even continues with East & West Divisions. Lots of consternation in SEC: not all are happy with transfer of Texas & Oklahoma to SEC (Whether they're weaker sisters or Top Dogs). Some still resent presence of Texas A&M and the influence of the four new former SouthWest Conference entrees. to the SEC. I, for one, will enjoy watching & hearing the various SEC teams make their pitches, complaints, and their various positions known as they try to figure out the structure of the new SEC. 3. Going back to the original thread regarding the influence of Archie Manning. I'm not particularly worried about Texas becoming a super power with Manning. They have to prove they can put together a cast of Offensive players to support him. They also have to put together a strong Defense. Texas, with several different name coaches, has failed to put together any type of consistency, other than weak/average, over the last ten years. Just MHO.

East/West might make more sense- with a jagged line across the South to give more balance- hard to geographically place Ky., Vandy & Mizzou in an equal split though

in order to leverage their newborn size and amping up the media dollars. Why not keep more of their product in house on any given Saturday?
I can see this type of scheduling split, with the top two teams overall meeting up for an SEC final. There won't be division standings, but they'll use small divisions to help schedule. Each group would all play each other, then two more against each other group, then one additional permanent addition to reach 10.

Austin is a wonderful place. Big city restaurants and clubs, beautiful lakes. Has it all, at least it did when I worked that area 20 years ago. The area was a hotbed for hippies, revolutionaries and the like for years and they have all matured into adult liberals now. Their influence in the city, the school and every facet of life in the area is overwhelming now. So do not look for too much, too soon. The recent parade of football head coaches have had an entire culture to overcome before they can get back to the glory days of UT football and thus far, nobody since Mack has been able to do it.

I honestly am not that disappointed that the Manning Circus won't be in town. Because, whether you like or dislike them, the Circus IS in town anytime they all get together. The media ensures it. It would take the focus off Clemson football, a huge distraction.
Texas likes to do things big, it may be a great fit there.

On the other hand, wouldn't it be great if Oklahoma and Texas came into the SEC and played for the conference championship the first year they joined?
I would love to see that.

The dude is wildly overrated. None of the services will change his ranking until a month or two before signing day when they want to generate clicks by promoting uncommitted players.
He’s a 4 star.

IMO, he'll be anywhere from very good to great. The concern about UT's football program under Sark is a much bigger question mark than how good Arch will be.
At the NFL level is where I have doubts about Arch.

when they told us early enough, whether by mutual agreement or otherwise, that we weren't part of the final mix thereby allowing us to refocus and get a commit from another 5 star QB?
I hope he has a great career.

I appreciate the Clemson staff’s honesty when they told manning early enough, whether by mutual agreement or otherwise, that he wasn’t part of our plans thereby allowing him to refocus and go somewhere else.

We're building a decent pipeline out of Texas. That alone has me pulling against A&M and Texas. I figure if those two schools excel it could affect our recruiting in Texas. Just a thought....

This Manning kid has advantages of being trained by great NFL family since birth. He’s going to be a great QB period but I believe we got a very good QB’s too.
He’s going to give Texas the best chance they have ever had(since Vince Young) to win the National Championship.

I read this insanely ignorant comment this morning and I haven’t gotten over it yet. Can you imagine what the internet does to an idiot where he thinks it’s ok to say something like this about another human being? I hope your wife leaves you for a coot, how about that?
