I think DW is a special player, and I would have no problem

Sep 8, 2014, 12:30 PM

if Dabo turned the reigns over to him. As a matter of fact, that's probably what I would do.

I just think it's ridiculous to try and use the way Stoudt has played this year against him... just like it's ridiculous look at DW's small sample size and assume that he would be completing 80% of his passes had he played as much as Cole.

Stoudt has not played badly, but....

I must admit that the offense has looked more fluid when Watson has been in the game.

I can agree with that... but I also think

Watson's sample size has been a little too small to assume he would continue to post those numbers...

That being said... I think we're gonna see him a lot in Tally.

I hope you are right because Dabo seems to be pretty stubborn on this issue. He seems to want to make the point that he doesn't listen to fans instead of focusing on actually winning the game.

I do agree....

that it is a bit of a stretch to automatically assume Watson would continue to post the same numbers with increased playing time.

I am most frustrated at the coaching staff not giving Watson more of a sample. Dabo and Chad have said that Watson is the future. Why not give him more reps? It isn't our fault that in the small sample we have been given that most wish DW was given the keys.

The small size of Watson makes it difficult, but some of these don't lie.

Check out these stats from:
www.seldomusedreserve.com

Stoudt
38-60 63.3% - 7.4 yds/att - 1 TD

Watson
10-13 76.9% - 16.4 yds/att - 4 TD

IF you look more closely 29 of Stoudt's attempts are behind the LOS. 48% of his throws. He completed 27 of those passes. However Stoudt has only completed 11/31 passes past the LOS.

Watson has 3 attempts behind the LOS. 25% of his throws.

I just want the QB that opens up the playbook... I don't think Stoudt is that guy.

17% of the season is over. I'm afraid at 25%, we will hear a lot more should woulda coulda.

Well

Then the coaches should give him a larger sample size. If we don't manufacture a running game in a hurry, it's going to get ugly. DW allows us a read option threat.

If a QB gives you the best chance to win, then logically speaking you never take him out of the game.
