together in Florida and strengthening the solidarity of the conference is like the captain and crew of the Titanic holding hands and singing don't "Worry be Happy!"

Ok I gave you a preemptive point. Lay out your case for a 50% revenue increase.

The thing is there isn't a 50% increase today, tomorrow or even many months down the road. Acc will for ever suck when it comes to the cash.

Do you realize that the 2011-2012 season was the first time the SEC distributed significantly more money to their teams than the ACC.

Interesting note

Feb 14, 2013, 4:14 PM

That more than trumped the ACC’s edge in bowl money ($36.73 million to $31.3 million) and basketball television rights ($36.5 million to $31.1 million).

With all the "big time" games that the SEC is tied to you would think the SEC would have produced more bowl money during that time. Things are changing i know but it is interesting.

Feb 14, 2013, 3:08 PM [ in reply to Re: I have the feeling that the Athletic Directors getting ]

Currently the BCS system pays 17 million for the first team into a BCS game. This equals about 1.4 million per school. This is added to the 16 million per school that the ESPN contract provides. So currently the ACC recieves about 17.4 million per school.

Starting in 2014 the new BCS deal and Orange bowl will pay the ACC much more.

Orange bowl deal for 6 years we play the B1G/SEC will give 27.5 million.

Orange bowl deal for 2 years playing ND will provide 41.25 million.

Other 4 years undetermined but averages to about 30 million per year for the ACC.

The second major upgrade is the BCS playoff money which will be split evenly among the 5 major conferences.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/8736544/sec-big-ten-big-12-pac-12-acc-average-91-million-new-playoff-format-sources-say

This includes 75% (258.75 million) of the total payout being split between the conferences. That is about 51.75 million per conference.

The last major upgrade is the new ACC network that is being worked. That should provide 21-28 million more in revenue added to the 17 million/school currently with ESPN(this deal could also go up with ND and Louisville).

That means 51.75M (playoff) + 30M (orange) + 25M(network) = 106.75M or 7.625 million/school. Add that to the 17 million/school ESPN contract and you have almost 25 million/school over the next 12 years.

Those numbers do not include the ACC getting a team in the playoff. Getting a second team in a BCS access bowl. The APR bonus or the increased revenue from the NCAA basketball tournament.

major problem the acc faces is can they hold on to all the current members and convince nd to join as a full time member. money is inportant but if the big,sec and big12 raid the acc we or the conference is in deep dodo. only time will tell with all the other confrences going to 16 teams or more. stay tuned!

seem anyone is willing to turn the wheel over either left or right. We just keep looking knowing the berg is out there somewhere and stay in the same course.
