Whatever floats your boat. TDP has done a lot for this school and Dabo has taken us the first ACC title in 20 years. If it makes you feel better to continually undermine what has is obviously a great situation, then by all means go ahead, that's your right. Me, and I think I speak for a lot of folks here, think posts like this are just ignorant. You must be reading the wrong news paper. All I see are new facilities, upgrades, championships, graduation, and big wins.

Pretty sure it was just about Dabo, and how Dabo has become the coach we needed, not the coach we hired.

being anti Dabo to finally seeing what many many of us saw when he was first hired, then welcome aboard. I thought from the day I saw his press conference Dabo was going to be an outstanding hire and I haven't deviated since!
Kudos to TDP for the hire and the Purnell hire and the Brownell hire. I still can't figure out what all the fuss is about with TDP. He knows what the hell he is doing.

Dabo was not a good coach from the outset.

He surrounded himself with clowns instead of professionals, and didn't let them do the jobs they were supposed to do.
He was immature and unexperienced -- that's who TDP hired.
But, that's not who he is now.

it is still the same coach he hired. All coaches mature with experience.

I admit, I was not in favor of Dabo's hiring when it happened, but I have supported him since he took the job. Call the hire desperate, weak, or financially motivated, whatever, but TDP obvioulsy saw something in him that we did not...you have to give him credit for that, if not just for taking a chance.

Oh and your little Big 12 logo is a little dated by the way. It still have Nebraska, Missouri, and Colorado as well as Clemson, which will NEVER happen.

But that doesn't change the fact that Dabo was a bad hire that blossomed wonderfully -- something I doubt TDP could have seen. After all, nobody could have seen that (I don't think Dabo did either until he was on the hot seat and finally realized his full potential).
This is nothing against Dabo, or really against TDP. I'm just saying TDP got lucky on this one because Dabo is so much better than what TDP hired.
Come on people. USE YOUR BRAINS HERE. I'm not speaking mexican.

do you really think TDP would purposly make a "bad" hire and risk losing his own job as a result?
Come on, use YOUR brain.

Did I say he purposefully did it? No. I did not.

Do not make brash assumptions when clearly that's not what I'm saying. It's shameful. I expect more from internet debates.
What I'm saying is that TDP made a lazy hire because it was easier/cheaper to sell Dabo's story that it was to execute a true national coaching search.
Did it work out for TDP/Dabo/Clemson? Definitely. So, I'm doing little more than just typing to hear my own keystrokes, but it doesn't change the truth of the origins of our current coaching situation.

not making assumptions...that's exactly what you said...you called TDP's hire of an "immature," "inexperienced" coach as "bad" and "lazy." Was the hiring of 5-19 Gene Chizik a bad and lazy hire that just happened to work out?
You may believe that, but if TDP believed it, then that was most certainly put his own job at risk. He didn't just make a hire "hoping it would work out." On the other hand, if TDP believed DS was the coach to take the program into the future, then you have to give him credit. We don't work around DS every day and I can assure you TDP knows him, his work habits and coaching philosophy a lot better than you and I ever will.
As for a coaching search, you, I nor anyone else on T-net have no idea where his national coaching search took him and who he interviewed or considered. But if you can find a winner in your own back yard, why go anywhere else to find a winner who has no ties to the university.

Getting beat 70-33 in a BCS bowl game and becoming the butt of every joke in college football doesn't make you "epic."
