3 sheriff deputies around as well, however - not eating - just watching.

No it doesn't, but when you give millions of dollars to organizations who exist to keep people from getting married, that says otherwise.

Re: Who is giving away millions and to what organizations?

Did you read any news before forming an opinion on this matter? I don't care if he has a problem with gays getting married. He is entitled to an opinion and I appreciate someone who doesn't waver on their beliefs. However, the issue is the money donated to 'traditional family' groups.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Who is giving away millions and to what organizations?

Aug 1, 2012, 12:22 PM

I read plenty of news, but i have heard plenty of people throw around statements on issues that are not true. So, how much did he give away and to whom? So far 'family values' groups sound good to me. I tithe to my church and consider it a great source of family values. ;)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Who is giving away millions and to what organizations?

Aug 1, 2012, 2:07 PM [ in reply to Re: Who is giving away millions and to what organizations? ]

Why is that an issue?

A corporation can donate to any special interest group they wish provided it's legal.

There still isn't any hatred or discrimination going on. The company can donate money to whatever cause the board of directors sees fit.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Re: "i disagree" does NOT = "i hate" . . .

Aug 1, 2012, 12:33 PM

So, traditional family values cannot include two men or two women? Please defend the sanctity of marriage that exists in the world today.

And I guess I am boycotting. I am sure Chickfila will continue to do well without my money, but I am not going to continue to support an organization that chooses to keep a group of people down because a book (with countless other contradictions) deems it wrong.

Aug 1, 2012, 12:44 PM [ in reply to Re: Re: "i disagree" does NOT = "i hate" . . . ]

You disagree with my holy book, that's DISCRIMINATION!

Annoying, isn't it?

Besides, who said anything about the Bible. The government has long held that marriage exists between one man and one woman because it is clear -- by both common sense and an increasing amount of scientific evidence (disputed of course by gay-allied media orgs) -- that a traditional household is the best possible way to raise responsible, civic minded children. That's it.

Why must you always bring your anti-religious attacks into the argument?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

A little oversensitive there. This is not pre-WW2 Germany where an opinion got someone killed. This is not an oil producing Muslim country, where the law says death.

Anybody can eat where they want. The man did not say Gay people were not welcome. He did not say anything about 'keeping the gay man down".

So, when a woman's wife dies after a 30 year relationship and she does not receive any support from her life insurance policy, you think that is fair?

Also, trying to downplay the importance of equality and comparing it to atrocities of WWII shows a lot of ignorance on your part.

Aug 1, 2012, 1:38 PM

based on knee-jerk reactions. To compare an insurance policy to governmental (taxpayers) support is absurd. For a guy to claim his boyfriend should be entitled to his Social Security after his death is what gets me - the system is going broke fast enough without this.

And please, please try to convince me that a heterosexual couple is inherently more capable of raising a child than two men or women.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: how dare you discriminate against me!!!

Aug 1, 2012, 1:13 PM

I don't care about the argument of who is best suited to raise children. My wife and I have sheltered 5 children over the past 4 years whose mother/father abused or neglected. One was sold for drugs by her mother. Police found out before anything happened. She has now been adopted by my sister who is single. Three were abused by their father for 6 years. Teenage girls who have yet to figure everything out after two years. And 6 weeks ago we got a 3 month old that was totally abused and neglected by her mother and father. I could tell you stories about all 5 of these children that would make even the hardest of men cry in shame over what can be done to a child.

So take you "who is best to raise a child" argument elsewhere. Get off the politics, and HELP some of these children. They don't care about your soapbox or anyone else's. And I do not either. You want to stand up and be counted? Do something other than find six different arguments in one thread, call people ignorant, and your general attitude towards someone who does not support your point of view.

Personally, I could care less who is gay and who is not. I have good, decent friends on both sides of that fence - including family. And we get along and love each other. Like the thread started above says, "disagree does not equal hate."

Re: Re: how dare you discriminate against me!!!

Aug 1, 2012, 1:38 PM [ in reply to Re: Re: how dare you discriminate against me!!! ]

My point is that you are arguing no point at all.

Dan Cathy, nor Chick-fil-a, is stopping gay marriage.

My bigger point is - why are you so hung up on gay marriage? I do not care about that argument. I am simply pointing out that if you want to do something real about parenting, get involved with you local DSS, and help some of the REAL CHILDREN WITH REAL PROBLEMS you nor I have ever experienced. Gay or straight, you can do something to help with their development. Isn't that really where the rubber meats the road??

My ISSUE with the WHOLE THING is FREE SPEECH. Boycott Chick-fil-a because of his OPINION that was ONLY given when asked a QUESTION. Last I read/heard/saw, he is not a senator, congressman, president, judge, etc. So what does his OPINION have to do with law? Plus, the biggest liberal of all time is now president. Time to get that agenda pushed through. Right now.

And if you feel so steadfast against Dan Cathy's opinion, why are you buying gas from the Saudis? That money supports their government which actually has LAWS banning being gay with a death penalty involved.
Yet you are more obsessed over a chicken sandwich because a man had an opinion. But not caring about gay men who are put to death for being gay. Where are the priorities? I think convenient priorities are at the front.
