Juco tranfsers

Oct 19, 2012, 8:04 PM

How is it that we can take juco's in baseball and not in football?

Maybe a dumb question, but was curious.

Probably something to do with the scholarships, or lack

thereof.

Many baseball players are on partial scholarship, at least that is my understanding. As a University, we exept transfers for the general student population, even from Tech schools. It is all about whether or not the previous schools credits transfer to make the student eligible.

Someone like "baseball fan" can probably give a much more detailed answer on our baseball Juco's.

must meet certain number hours toward a degree and most of the top level JUCO football players don't have enough hours in degree's Clemson offers. Most of the schools you see taking JUCO every year USC, Auburn, KanState, Alabama, and Tenn offer a lot of junk degree's that they can get these kids into and Clemson doesn't have that luxury.

And everyone wonders why the ACC institutions are having trouble competing with the SEC.

How many Juco transfers do we have in baseball?

Oct 19, 2012, 10:40 PM

They have severely been cut out in baseball recruiting as well. Currently I don't think we have any on our roster.

We use to be able to grab some key juco guys but last on I remember is Tomas Cruz.

Compare that to SC who had JC guys at 3B, 2B, C (Dantzler, Vergason, Rosenberg) last year.
And with their championship teams they a few pitchers, a starting SS(Haney), 3B (Morales), etc.

Juco's are necessary and even more so in baseball because they are ready immediately unlike most football guys. You can recruit a juco to fill a void left by a player going pro or injury.
