How many F's are needed to flunk out? Part 2

May 16, 2012, 9:54 AM

Based on NCAA requirements, Bellamy was required to have passed at least 9 hrs. in 1st semester to be eligible for 2nd semester, which he must have done. It would reason he did not get 10 AND he must have passed 0 hrs. in 2nd semester because adding the possible 20 from summer school would have gotten him to the minimum of 30 required to become a sophomore. Taking the 9 + 20 possible makes 29, therefore he doesn't qualify as a sophomore & is ineligible. It would also seem to be that he was on academic probation after the fall with less than a 2.0 GPA and I never saw that reported with all his other issues over Christmas Break.

http://www.registrar.clemson.edu/html/summer.htm

Undergraduate students may register for a total of 20 credits during the summer sessions: 10 during summer I and 10 during summer II.

Classification

All new students are classified as freshmen unless they have attended another college prior to entrance. Students who have completed college work elsewhere will be classified on the basis of semester hours accepted at Clemson rather than the amount of work presented. To be classified as a member of any class other than freshman, students must meet the credit-hour requirements below:

-Sophomore - 30 credit hours
-Junior - 60 credit hours
-Senior - 95 credit hours

EPIC FAIL no matter how you look at it...Bellamy had Vickery Hall, one of America's top rated Athletic/Academic Assistance Facilities. I know that there will be diehards to blame them, but that would be ridiculous & embarrassing to claim fault on their part.

If you aren't standing behind our troops overseas, how about standing in front of them?!

Isn't it based on the hours you take ?

You have to take a minimum numbers of credit hours just to be classified a full time student(13/semester on most campus')then when you fail to complete 60% of the hours you attempted, you are no longer qualified.Which means, he was most likely already on academic probation from the first semester. As that's always the first step before being declared ineligible.

It used to be 9 per semester (at least 25 years ago)

To be a full time student....

I've told this here before, when I was working in the Athletic Dept. in the early 80's, I used to have to take Horace Grant to class in a golf cart because he had 11 hours and his teacher was going to drop him from the roster instead of failing him. This would have put him at 8 hours and ineligible at the time.
