or any one looking to further educate themselves.
This is probably the best Doc I have seen discussing the underlying politics on the issue, where the money is coming from from both camps, as well the origin of the propaganda some of you like to post in here. Most importantly, it gives the actual consequences to this point, as well as non alarmist predictions for the future.
I will save some of you the time of calling PBS a libby propoganda machine, THEY TAKE NO MONEY FROM CORPORATIONS OR ADVERTISERS, THEREFORE THEY ARE FREE TO REPORT WITHOUT FEAR OF LOSING SPONSORS.

no wonder Mitt Romney wanted to de-fund big bird. PBS made the critical error of conducting actual investigative journalism.
now this is where you tell me about all the money they make from selling elmo dolls.

I think the politics of the issue are pretty clear though: Fear monger and seize control. Makes it a lot easier to tax and over-regulate when you've convinced everyone the world will end otherwise.

data fuels the models, not the other way around. you may want to brush up on the scientific method if you have more free time.

"Welcome to the Climate Scenario section of the Data Distribution Centre (DDC) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The DDC distributes a number of datasets, derived from various climate modelling experiments using general circulation models (GCMs), that are commonly used in the construction and application of climate change scenarios for climate change impacts assessments"
Datasets derived from climate modelling experiments?!? Wut?!?

I am talking about concrete data, like what can be observed now and in the past. not climate models data sets.
but since you feel all googely, why not show me why the climate models are so inaccurate.

I'm sitting this Climate one out - it's small potatoes.
What we REALLY need to do is save the planet from impending doom, as the chance of a life-ending asteroid strike is at an all-time high.
We have about the same chance of doing anything about that as we have of changing the world's climate. We just need a leader like Algore to organize and send our money to.

PBS major sponsor is the government. The government can use made up science like "global warming" to put more restrictions on businesses and help start a "new world order" where we must all obey them to make a living.

science" and real science?
Which part of the scientific evidence are you disagreeing with? You do realize that the scientific process that is bringing them to this conclusion is the same process that allows you to read and respond to this message on your computer over the internet.
There is something to the effect of a 98% consensus that climate change is a real issue among scientist.
Do you also realize that there are some very powerful politicians that have a vested interest in propagating the view that it is somehow junk science? They do this in order to fight environmental/clean energy regulation/legislation to ease up the limits on industrial pollution.
Billionaires such as the Koch brothers spend a lot of money propagating this nonsense to extremist groups such as the tea party movement which seems to be the source of confusion for so many.

The irony of you post is making my head explode.
"There is something to the effect of a 98% consensus that climate change is a real issue among scientist."
Do you know where this 98% number comes from? Obviously not.
Two researchers at the University of Illinois sent out a 2 minute survey to 10,257 earth scientists. Of those 10,257 surveys, only 3,146 were completed. Of those 3,146 responses, 77 were from scientists who were successful in having at least half their papers peer reviewed by climate science journals. 75 of those 77 responded 'yes' to the 2nd question of the survey. That's your 98% you quoted. A blistering 75 scientists.
For the record, the questions were:
1 - “When compared with pre-1800s levels, do you think that mean global temperatures have generally risen, fallen, or remained relatively constant?”
2 - “Do you think human activity is a significant contributing factor in changing mean global temperatures?”
And on the other side of the argument, since 1998 there have been over 31,000 American scientists (over 9,000 with PhDs) with climate-related backgrounds that have signed the petition stating:
“…there is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate.”
So I'm glad those 75 people have a better grasp than 31,000 on the other side.

Thanks for validating my post. Click the link you posted. See the superscript "1" for the references? Follow that to the references. Under the "1" for references is:
P. T. Doran & M. K. Zimmerman, "Examining the Scientific Consensus on Climate Change," Eos Transactions American Geophysical Union Vol. 90 Issue 3 (2009), 22; DOI: 10.1029/2009EO030002.
Here are the study results:
http://wattsupwiththat.com/2012/07/18/about-that-overwhelming-98-number-of-scientists-consensus/
If you google it, there are whole bunch of additional data sites included Forbes, but the link above is the easiest to read.
So in conclusion, I'm referencing the same study you are. Only I read the data instead of the headline.

Yep, you read the data alright. You conveniently left out all of the other references in the article though. That's called cherry picking and you know what you are doing. It doesn't matter what data is presented, you are going to deny it because you have already made up your mind.
