Over my 4 year college career at Clemson University, I only missed 2 home games. One was freshmen year when I had some sort of sickness. The last was my last game as a senior against BC when Aaron Kelly dropped a pass that would have lead to a touchdown and us to the ACC championship and then orange bowl. I missed that last game because I'd just adopted my best girl from an Oconee shelter and didn't trust a 6 week old pup at the house for 4 unattended hours.
We've lived in 7 different places since then and she's been with me through jobs, GFs (no pigs), a wife (no pigs), and now our 4 kids. She was there for the bottom of the barrel and as well as the highs. Always loyal. She never was aggressive except one time to a dog twice her size when it came running at our small children. She was a part of our family and by my side for 15 years.
I stayed with her today as she slipped out of consciousness. She never whined, but she was in pain. I'd been carrying her around the last 3 days since she couldn't stand any more. She hadn't eaten or drank in 48 hours. She was ready and I think I'm at peace with that now.
Hold em tight Jounge.

Dogs are truly man's best friend. They embody everything good about people, and we naturally bond with them on a deep level, and it sure hurts when they go.

we thought we wouldn't be able to get another doggo for a while because our hearts were so heavy over losing both of ours (15 and 16) in one year. Like you said, we had lived a lot of life with those pups and it made saying goodbye hard to bear. From dating to getting married and then having kids.. I never nursed a baby in the middle of the night with out my pups at my side to the dogs knowing when it was time to tuck kiddos in and they'd be the last ones out of their rooms at night.
We got a puppy last week and she brought sunshine back to the house, especially for the grown ups in the house.
Dogs are better than most people, and it was too #### quiet in my house without one and hurts too much to come home to no tail wagging.

wife I could not go thru that again.
Four months later, after dealing her mom's failing health and finally death, we were sitting on the couch, and she says she felt like we were just sitting there waiting to die and she wanted another dog.
Dogs bring so much happiness to us, those four months were the only four months of our marriage without at least one dog around.

If you love your dog, you’ll say you won’t get one to replace it or will wait a while. If you really love dogs, that fades away pretty quick and you’re back in the mix s lot quicker than you would have guessed.

Hardest cry in my life was when my first/best dog died. It's been 5 years and I still get misty when thinking about him.
